The Soul Shack is a comfort food haven that serves tender and seasoned dishes like beef short ribs and flavorful j*** chicken. The restaurant has a lively vibe with TVs playing games and music in the background. The food was really good, seasoned well, and hot. The yams were a definite get, and everything was good. The place is no frills, a perfect spot to go after Jazz on 53rd. While some customers have praised the excellent customer service and nice staff and chefs/cooks, others have noted the need for more professionalism from the wait staff, including uniforms and proper hygiene practices, and servers not walking around with pants sagging or forgetting tables. Despite some service inconsistencies, the restaurant's comfort food and spacious, wheelchair-accessible dining area make it a great spot for families, including kids who love dishes like fried chicken and waffles. The server was personable and fun, relating to everyone young and old. It's Covid conscious with flatware and drinking cups.
