A Christmas time tradition! Fairies visit the kids and sprinkle them with pixie dust to make their wishes come true. Reasonably priced food, decent quality like chicken pot pie, burger, meat loaf, holiday drinks. Christmas decor starting around Thanksgiving. Reservations booked weeks to months in advance.

Made reservations a month or two in advance. 2 hour wait to be seated. Walked away. Kids were too hungry.

I was at The Walnut Room yesterday 12/22/25 and Carol W the hostess went above and beyond to accommodate us when I made an error with our reservation. Even during a very busy busy time, she was kind, attentive, and proactive in helping with our needs. Her positive attitude and excellent customer service truly stood out and made our experience truly magical. Carol modeled true kindness and understanding. We need more of that in our world. Thank you again!

What a great holiday tradition. Reservations opened a day early this year without warning so I was thrilled I was able to find something before Christmas.

Customer service is over the top. Pretty fairies were offering fairy dust on your meal while asking you to make a wish. Super cute for the littles.

Our waiter was amazing. Always attentive, refilled when needed, quick to take dirty plates. He made great suggestions in terms of meals and cocktails.

Cocktails were on point. Old Fashion, Eggnog, and a holiday spritz were all delicious as was the infamous pot pie and chicken salad.

We skipped dessert but lots of Frango mint options.

Macy’s will always be Marshall Fields to me. The store looked absolutely beautiful.

My family and I dined at The Walnut Room on or around November 10th, and unfortunately our experience was disappointing due to our server’s behavior.
We were a larger group, but from the moment our server—whose name was either Vincent or Victor—approached our table, his attitude was unwelcoming and his customer service was poor. He appeared irritated and dismissive, which immediately set a negative tone for our visit.
At one point, another server noticed how he was treating us and actually came over to apologize on his behalf, which speaks volumes. No matter our overwhelmed or busy you are , you just don't treat people that way. There was also confusion regarding cups for the children at our table. We were told very abruptly that “no kids are getting cups,” without any explanation or courtesy.
Dining out should be an enjoyable experience, especially in a well-known establishment like this. Unfortunately, the lack of professionalism and courtesy from our server made this visit unpleasant. Someone working directly with the public should demonstrate patience, respect, and basic customer service skills, and that was not the case here.
I hope management addresses this issue so future guests do not have a similar experience.

We had an awful experience at the walnut room. After waiting 30 mins to be seated with a reservation, our group of 13 waited an additional 30 minutes for drinks, and over an hour for our food afterwords. The manager (Mark) was dismissive and rude when approached about our experience. The other manager (not sure of her name) was friendly and came over/ comped our meal and was apologetic for the experience and the actions of the other manager.
In the Holiday season, definitely not worth visiting with a large group (however, the smaller tables around us seemed to have a good time)

I’ve been to the Walnut Room several times but the last two times I have done the Wine Bar Wait List and I’m writing this review to shout out the host from today, Maria! She was so kind, attentive, understanding and did everything she could to make sure those of us who came after the wait list closed could still get a seat at the bar before 6:30pm. For the Sunday evening before Christmas, we only had to wait 40 mins and it was worth the wait. Our waiter was also amazing and even gave us a complimentary glass of sparkling wine because our drinks took so long to come out. We both had the Asiago chicken and it was to die for. Amazing service and experience! Will come back next year.

The Walnut Room did not disappoint! My wife went there as a child growing up in the city. Now many years later she wanted us as a family to enjoy the holiday spirit and THE TREE. We did that and more. Upon arrival Corey welcomed us. He and the team made sure there was no one waiting. He was gracious to help all and offered to take our picture multiple times. Geno the manager was also pleasant. Our table could not have been more perfect. I wish I could add pictures to this post! The food was delicious and the fairies were a nice touch too. I wish I knew our fairy’s name. She was amazing!! All in all I want to thank Corey and the entire staff for making my wife’s birthday wish come to life and exceed her expectations.
Blessings🙏🏻

We were able to get reservations at 9:30 a.m. for our annual Christmas outing downtown. I don't normally like breakfast foods and was pleasantly surprised how good the brunch buffet was. The service & atmosphere was great! Everyone made sure we had a wonderful time making memories. The host took our picture in front of the Christmas tree. So glad we were able to get in!
