Back in the day, I used to love this place! Now it's just a horrible hole in the wall that puts peas in carrots in the rice. How can a Chinese food place in Chinatown mess up Chinese fried rice? basically everything was a greasy horrible blob. Not the three happiness that I remember.

Came here after a concert, heavily craving some Chinese food. Being the only place open late nearby, my partner and I decided to try it on a whim. Environment is very old school (not necessarily always bad, some old school places actually have the best food) and somewhat cozy. The staff present were very nice, but I do wish they had communicated to us that we had to pay before getting our food??? Quite strange. Dishes were very lackluster. The sesame and lemon chicken are basically unseasoned chicken nuggets dunked into sauce with a side of rice. The egg rolls were actually pretty good and sadly the best part of our meal. Don’t think I’d ever come back unless I’m very desperate. Perhaps I’ll give their other dishes a try.

I went here based on a family member recommendation, saying the food was delicious. The set up of the restaurant was lackluster..but I've seen worse Unfortunately my experience was not the same. Because it was my first time there, I tried the basics of shrimp fried rice and chicken wings. The rice was good, but very greasy. The chicken wings were hot and smelled good but once I bit into it they had an unusual smell similar to that of chitterlings. I really had hoped I found a restaurant,, but unfortunately, I will not be returning.

My recent visit to Three Happiness Restaurant left much to be desired. The ambiance was lackluster, and the overall dining experience fell short of expectations.Firstly, the service was subpar, with our waiter displaying an uncomfortable persistence in convincing my friend to leave a tip (exactly 18%). It felt more like a forced transaction than a genuine appreciation for the service. This approach left a sour taste, overshadowing any positive aspects of the meal. Moreover, the menu offerings lacked creativity and freshness. The dishes seemed uninspired and lacked the vibrant flavors one would expect from a restaurant claiming to bring happiness through its food.In addition to the lackluster service and mediocre food, the overall cleanliness of the restaurant left much to be desired. Tables were not promptly cleared, and the atmosphere felt unattended.Overall, my experience at Three Happiness Restaurant was far from delightful. The combination of lackluster service, uninspiring food, and a persistent waiter attempting to extract a tip left me with no desire to return or recommend this place to anyone.

they make you pay first for your meal which is fine but they immediately asked us for tips around 18% and continued to asked for more afterwards. It says on the recipt "Gratuity Suggestions" but it feels as though we were taken advantage of and got coaxed to give them more money. The lady asking didnt speak much english but she wouldnt take any answer other than a written gratuity. We ate here since we already paid but we are not coming back

Love the fries rice and sweet and sour chicken. Ive been here a couple of times and will be going back. The service is not bad but they are really busy so it’s takes them a while to take your order when eating in but the food is great and it’s great value for your money.

This is some of the best Chinese food in Chicago. My family has been taking me here since I was a kid, and recently I've been taking my gf from Montana here and she's been loving it. Hopefully when we start a family together this restaurant will be around for us to create many more happy memories in and around!
