A nice burger and they have $4 old styles so it’s a win in my book.
Burger was good, had charred onions and aioli, they make all their sauces in house.
Only complaint is they don’t have ketchup, could be an easy fix, they also didn’t have French fries but served the burger with something else, some kind of green pepper that was tough whose name I’m forgegginv but that wasn’t very good. Fries and ketchup would go a long way but fantastic burger.

Went in for dinner last night for my boyfriend’s birthday. From start to finish, it was excellent. The hostess was so sweet, we were seated right away, Stefan (sp?) our bartender was super attentive without being obnoxious. The food was absolutely amazing and even before I could ask to purchase a birthday dessert for our guest of honor, Stefan had it already on the way and comped it. He suggested a vermouth pairing with the chocolate mousse dessert and it was heaven. Great place and thank you Stefan for making my boyfriend’s birthday so enjoyable!! Sorry if I misspelled your name!

I would’ve written right after my meal, but I was too happy to hop on my iPad.
This was one of the best dining experiences of my life. No drama in that statement. For good or bad, I travel and dine out about 250 days a year. This place delivered JOY to the point of tears.
The environment took me way out of my comfort zone, the music, in Anya other setting would have been just noise. BUT… then you meet your waiter and the menu… the stars align and the beautiful meal makes it all work.
I won’t bother to tell you what I had because your odds of replicating my meal are about zero. Every bite of every item on my and my guests plate made me smile… from the depths, to my face.
Creative, fun, expertly prepared, and wonderfully presented meal items kept coming out of the open kitchen.
And the staff… everyone seems genuinely happy to be at work. They did not disappoint!
I took the time to seek out the creative geniuses behind this magical place… as expected, Emily and Trevor were welcoming and genuine.
I’ll be back as often as my schedule allows.
Thank you Warlord!

PSA: The owner is a really terrible dude. Highly recommend you run if you’re anywhere near the owner. You are at risk and in danger of an alarming interaction. Good luck to all who think they’re stronger than the warnings 💗

This restaurant is cool as hell - from the food itself to the design/atmosphere, and even the music.
The live fire cooking is impressive and having a seat at the bar to watch the team wrangle that fire is… captivating.
I thought a lot of the dishes were well considered, delicious, and moreover, just fun to eat and enjoy with company. Excited to return.

We had the pleasure of eating here for our anniversary meal and just wow! Every bite was as delicious as the next! Cocktails were tasty. Service was kind, knowledgeable and prompt. I fully own that the atmosphere isn’t necessarily my style and was a touch too loud for me but I guess I am just getting old. Great place! Hope to be back soon!

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for having these amazing chefs in our neighborhood. They truly embody everything I love about a great restaurant - the soul of the food, the ambiance, and the delicious great quality ingredients.
The concept of the restaurant is an experience in its self !
Sitting at the bar is always a treat thanks to the incredible bartenders who create unique drinks that you won’t find anywhere else.
I started with the oysters, and they were already telling me everything I needed to know about this place! Perfectly picked, shucked, and cleaned oysters that show how much care they put into their dishes. Last time I had oysters like these was at Erick’s Ripert’s place.
Everything after that was a perfectly thought-out dish. The Japanese eggplant and watermelon salad, the halibut, and everything else was a 5/5 hit!
We’ll definitely become regulars. This is my kind of place! Thanks, Chefs!

We’d read the internet gossip about the chef/owner who is apparently a polarizing figure, but happily ignored noise. Glad we did.
Review: The ambiance? Vibey. The food? Outstanding! We arrived at 5:50 and had seats at the bar/countertop (no extended wait), right in front of the allegedly “scary” chef. Verdict: he’s not scary, just runs a kitchen with what seemed to be an expectation of excellence (SCARY!!)
The burger? Absolute A1, right up there with Au Cheval, Loyalist, Mott St, and Gretel—yes, I said it. The surprise MVPs? The grilled oysters (smoky perfection) and the peach + bread combo.
Bottom line: skip the noise, order the burger, and let yourself be impressed. Great food, professionalism, and attentive service. Zero complaints, plenty of happy chewing.

Absolutely fantastic experience through and through. Amazing food in apps, entree and dessert. Impeccable service, timely, observant and knowledgeable. Great ambience with disco, candle light, mid century modern design. 10/10 experienced don’t let any of these bad reviews convince you otherwise.

1st visit my wife and I split everything so we had everything on the menu besides the burger. I think our tab was $300.
2nd visit again we split everything and only order new food items. Again no burger. I think our tab was $260.
The food is always amazing and I like the fact they have food I don't cook. I think most bad reviews are people who have to wait a long time and can't really afford to eat here.
The food portions aren't huge so typically you need more than one dish. This is pretty common on higher end restaurants.

Underwhelming and over seasoned.
Warlord is one of the more intriguing new additions to Chicago’s dining scene—dark, vibey, and clearly aiming to make a splash. The ambiance is moody and stylish, perfect for a night out that feels a little edgy and exciting. You can tell the concept is thoughtful, and there’s definite potential here.
But the restaurant is still working through some serious growing pains. The biggest issue: service. From the moment we arrived, it was clear things were behind. There was a wait to be seated and once we finally sat down, the pace didn’t pick up. Our waiter was doing their best but was visibly stressed and uncomfortable about the delays—clearly caught in the middle of a system that isn’t functioning smoothly yet.
It’s not all doom and gloom. The food (when it finally arrives) shows promise, and I genuinely want to root for this place. But right now, dining at Warlord requires patience—and possibly a snack beforehand. I’ll be curious to come back in a few months once they’ve had time to iron things out. Right now, though, it feels like a great idea that’s still finding its footing.
Great atmosphere and vibe. Food great quality, but Salt! Fries so salty same as the burger.
