Weather Mark Tavern has a great bar vibe—relaxed, comfortable, and not overly loud, which made it easy to enjoy a conversation. The service was friendly and attentive without feeling rushed.
The food was good and reasonably priced for what you get. We tried the **Cheese Curds**, **Fish Tacos**, and **Southern Hot Brown Sliders**. The cheese curds were crispy on the outside and perfectly gooey inside. The fish tacos were fresh and well-seasoned, with a nice balance of flavor and texture. The Southern Hot Brown sliders were a pleasant surprise—savory, rich, and something a little different from the usual bar menu.
Overall, it’s a solid spot for casual drinks and good food. I’d definitely come back.

I hate to write this review. Weather mark used to be one of my favorite places to take the ladies on initial dates. I knew the food was great the drinks were good and the service was always standard. I haven’t been here since around 2011/2012. Glad to see it survived the times. I am deeply saddened to write that service, food and drinks have completely tanked. The sweet potato fries were almost burned, the wings were disgustingly undercooked and rubbery, if only they put batter on them to enrich the flavor and texture. My date and I stopped eating the wings and I ordered a grilled chicken byob. I added grilled onion and mushrooms to it and when I tell you that there were barely 3 pieces of grilled onion and 5 mushrooms, I mean it. We sat at the bar, our waitress was an older polish woman with glasses, never got her name but she barely checked on us 3/4 times. We had to ask for water and even the water had a strange taste to it. Our bill came out to 108.59, the service is severely lacking, the food is either undercooked or over cooked and the drinks were pre made or too sweet. After I paid the bill, my date noticed the bar tender talking to the server about the tip that I left and began pointing at us, I was unaware of this until my date said she wanted to leave and I thought it was weird because I wanted to stay for jeopardy which was just about to start. As we are walking out my date told me that the bar tender pointing at us made her feel uncomfortable and she didn’t trust any more food or drinks. Again I wanted to rank this place as high as I used to back in the day but with the treatment we got this day I’ll refrain from returning. It really wasn’t that busy.

So the blueberry pancakes were 10 out of 10, but my chicken and waffles were overcooked and dry. Our waitress was great and made it right. I had the passion fruit cocktail. It was good but definitely strong.

Weather Mark Tavern brings a nautical, neighborhood bar charm to Chicago's South Loop. It's praised for its welcoming atmosphere, often with a lively crowd, and a menu featuring solid pub fare. Many enjoy it for happy hour and casual meals, with some highlighting their pizza and drinks. It provides a relaxed and fun setting, a great spot to unwind in the area.

My husband and I were in from out of town. One thing I’ve learned about visiting Chicago is to make sure to have dinner reservations. I made a reservation for Weather Mark Tavern because it seemed like a casual place close to our hotel. We got reminders about our upcoming reservation and got there right on time only to find out it’s a seat yourself place and every table was full. Luckily 2 people left the bar so we were able to snag their seats. Food and drinks were good. Our poor bartender was the only one working for the entire place (which was packed). She appeared to make some phone calls and several people show up within the hour to help her. So overall, we enjoyed our time here but please remove the reservations tab on your website.
