We didn't like the waiter's attention. We asked for full-term meat and he gave us medium-rare meat. He did not want to change the order or complete the order. They also didn't give us pico de gallo and the value of the dishes was not in line with the expected amount. Beautiful atmosphere but the attention leaves a lot to be desired.

My first visit to the Bayless empire. I didn't want to go, I didn't want to like it, but I'll admit it - it's legit good and I didn't feel overrun by cultural appropriation (and believe me, I thought I would). I might not make this a regular spot but it would be hard not to include it in your happy hour repertoire.

Their tortas are consistently good. We ordered red pozole from Antique taco yesterday and it was markedly better for almost half the price.

I’m sure it’s better for non vegetarians/vegans obviously since that’s not what they cater to, but as a vegetarian/ pescatarian the menu leaves something to be desired. I was dissatisfied with my eggplant sandwich combo which was very small and just insubstantial, carb heavy and unimpressive for the price. My bfs shrimp sandwich was also kind of unremarkable. I understand that vegetarian options are usually an afterthought at meat centric restaurants which is 90% of places out there, but authentic Mexican food has so many great vegetarian options that I feel that shouldn’t be the case. Service kind of rushed us, it was New Year’s Eve morning and it’s a fast paced place but still unnecessary. I could smell the air freshener in the bathroom waft out into the dining area every so often which is quite unpleasant, just use a bathroom fan.

It’s a decent authentic Mexican restaurant. Churro and hot chocolate were interesting. The servers were kind and nice.

Very average and added "service fees" made this place a huge disappointment. Zero reason for wait staff to try when they're automatically pulling tips. Save your money, go to Chipotle. $50+ for two dudes eating tacos, chips and water was far too too much for what was delivered.

I'm not sure whether the food was good or not. The staff was too aggressive about taking it away as soon as it got set in front of me

We were quick to be seated which was pleasantly surprising for a Friday night. The staff were all great and super friendly. Our food was fantastic and came out very fast. All was great until the bill came. The cost was much higher than anticipated and they didn’t bring me a paper copy. Instead they handed me a handheld machine and something didn’t feel right. It was already on the tip screen so I decided to ask if they already added a tip, they said a 15% service fee is automatically added to the bill so it felt weird being led to stack additional service dollars on so I declined. Even with the tip it felt high but I paid and asked for an itemized bill. They gave me the bill and it was clear they had doubled some of the items. I was told I’ll see my refund in 2-3 days. Strange thing is the table next to us had the same issue. Their bill was much higher and they found drinks were doubled. Seemed sketchy. Kind of ruined our experience.

Love this little establishment! Everyone is so friendly and attentive. My boyfriend and I aren’t from Chicago and we were looking for a quick bite before a show. The tacos here are AMAZING! We got the Beef tacos and the shrimp tacos as recommended by our server, Francisco, and it was so good!! Definitely give this place a try. We’ll be back again before our trip ends!

Had the papas rancheras as well as the fish tacos, which were both excellent! Have to give four stars because the service was kind of slow, but the food itself was great!

I recently visited a fantastic Mexican restaurant that truly impressed me. The service was exceptional; the staff was attentive and friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with vibrant decor that perfectly complemented the cuisine.

The menu offered a variety of authentic dishes, and everything we ordered was flavorful and well-presented. The highlight was definitely the freshly sikyl pal and the tradicional tlayudas, which were simply divine. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for great Mexican food in a cozy setting. Also the chef special is amazing.! Thank you Xoco we definitely be back ..!
