Christmas Day. Mid afternoon. Seats still open. Bartender visibly unhappy to be there. Took his time, kept his back to new guests, visibly annoyed at anyone asking for a drink. Two people next to me left before getting a drink due to the slow service and bad vibes and I followed suit. If you apply and accept a job in 5 star hospitality fake it and make it work.

Relaxing atmosphere and yummy drinks. Bonus points for cool bathroom
My friends and I went to the Z Bar at the Peninsula Hotel in downtown Chicago for some midday drinks and a terrace view of the city. The environment and service in there were fantastic, since it’s a five-star hotel. They even have fire pits outside. We didn’t stay outside long because it’s cold but we took some photos and went back inside. It’s a nice bougie and comfortable spot to hang out :)

Hip but cool spot. Nut bowl alone is worth the visit! 😁

Modern, trendy bar with good views and even better service. Didn't try food, but cocktails were great. On the more expensive side but worth the visit.

Fun and very creative cocktails, they also have a great selection of whiskey, and the view is wonderful. Very comfortable and chic atmosphere, they even have blankets and a fire pit.
It's been a minute since my last visit here but it's just as nice as I remembered. Great drinks and service. The snacks are pretty decent too (get the daikon fries).

Stumbled upon this little gem while visiting Chicago last week. Would absolutely recommend it. Very cool view, atmosphere, drinks and food. Going on our list of rooftop bars to visit again when we return. Keep up the great work!

We were greeted by the hostess very quickly and seated immediately. Krystal was very attentive and kind, augmenting the experience, which was already incredible with the views. A+!!

My first time at ZBar didn't disappoint. The drinks and food was great. What made our n sight was the staff and their excellant sevice. From the hostess to the waitstaff. It's the little things in the details that stood out . What an experience of elegance, great view, and the perfect place talk.

Food was not good, and there are better views for the price you pay
Today we were at z-bar. The service and atmosphere were top notch, but I would like to pay more attention to the hostess Julia. She gave us maximum attention. Thanks to her. Although the bar was busy and it was obvious that it was very difficult for her to pay attention to everyone. Thank you very much Julia
Me and my friend were visiting from out of town. Both of us enjoy to spend our evenings with good food, drinks and nice views. However Z bar, left us both underwhelmed and disappointed. When we first arrived we waited at the hostess stand for about 30 minutes and no one was there to sit us. We noticed two couples get seated before us and they arrived after us. When the hostess came towards us, she started asking us questions about our hotel room and if we were guests. Also she didn't ask where we would like to sit like the couples in front of us. None of these hotel questions were asked to the couples in front of us, which gave a hint of casual racism and discrimination. I've lived in many other big cities and would never expect to experience this service from Z Bar in Chicago. Definitely left with a poor taste. Although it was an unwelcoming environment when we first arrived, our server was polite and attentive. We enjoyed our drinks and the view. The oysters were okay. However I would not recommend them.

Oh boy, I don’t even know where to start. This was the first time in my life I was kicked out of a bar for looking too provocative.
It was my first visit to Chicago, and I was visiting from Canada. I absolutely cannot imagine this happening to me in Toronto.
Unfortunately, the staff were very rude, and when I spoke to the manager about the situation, they said they couldn’t help.
This is absolutely unacceptable. For a high-end bar to judge a young woman based on her appearance is a terrible look for the business and reflects poorly on their reputation.
