Today we were at z-bar. The service and atmosphere were top notch, but I would like to pay more attention to the hostess Julia. She gave us maximum attention. Thanks to her. Although the bar was busy and it was obvious that it was very difficult for her to pay attention to everyone. Thank you very much Julia

Me and my friend were visiting from out of town. Both of us enjoy to spend our evenings with good food, drinks and nice views. However Z bar, left us both underwhelmed and disappointed. When we first arrived we waited at the hostess stand for about 30 minutes and no one was there to sit us. We noticed two couples get seated before us and they arrived after us. When the hostess came towards us, she started asking us questions about our hotel room and if we were guests. Also she didn't ask where we would like to sit like the couples in front of us. None of these hotel questions were asked to the couples in front of us, which gave a hint of casual racism and discrimination. I've lived in many other big cities and would never expect to experience this service from Z Bar in Chicago. Definitely left with a poor taste. Although it was an unwelcoming environment when we first arrived, our server was polite and attentive. We enjoyed our drinks and the view. The oysters were okay. However I would not recommend them.

Oh boy, I don’t even know where to start. This was the first time in my life I was kicked out of a bar for looking too provocative.

It was my first visit to Chicago, and I was visiting from Canada. I absolutely cannot imagine this happening to me in Toronto.

Unfortunately, the staff were very rude, and when I spoke to the manager about the situation, they said they couldn’t help.

This is absolutely unacceptable. For a high-end bar to judge a young woman based on her appearance is a terrible look for the business and reflects poorly on their reputation.

recently visited Z Bar at the Peninsula Chicago for a light evening of appetizers and dessert, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The restaurant has a cozy and elegant ambiance, making it a perfect spot to unwind.

The menu offered a great variety, and I cannot recommend the warm vanilla bean beignets enough – they were heavenly and a must-try!

The service was impeccable. Sara, our server, was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed, while Julia, the host, greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome from the start.

Overall, Z Bar exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a refined yet comfortable dining experience in Chicago.

Overpriced and a terrible martini, used a bottle of “olive juice” (brown color) and the olives were no good. Much better options in the same area

terrible vibe, decent cocktails

Unsophisticated wine selection and rude wait staff. Not sure this place would stay open in a non-touristy area.

This is by far one of my favorite places in the city!! Not only the view and interior design are breathtaking, but the staff and atmosphere are warm, professional, cool, energetic, and fun :) while I did not get to experience all the food options, the once I had were both tasty and creative. Drinks - all outstanding from tea to complex cocktails. See you next time:)

Stopped into Z bar for the first time 2 years ago in August 2022 and immediately fell in love. Not only are the drinks delicious but the food is just as great. Recently returned to introduce my date to the establishment and really enjoyed our evening. Will definitely be back at my earliest convenience ;)

Their manager , Martin always makes sure everyone is happy.
I have a special atachment to this bar. It's my safe place where I can put my favorite dress and have my favorite cocktail. I always leave happy.

Absolutely terrible experience at what’s supposed to be a high-end bar! We were rudely kicked off the terrace for no reason despite purchasing over $100 of drinks at the bar. To top it off, some girl ended up puking right on my shoes, and the staff did absolutely nothing to handle the situation. For a place that charges premium prices, the service and environment were far from it. I expected way better than this complete disregard for customers. Won’t be coming back, and I suggest you think twice before wasting your time and money here.

Manager contacted me via my review 2 months ago. I emailed as instructed and was ignored. They won't see me again. As a service professional in the hospitality industry that's the worst!

We just moved to Gold Coast and wanted to see rooftope around. Hostess lady greeting on Wednesday night: “Whats going on???” Was super rude when we entered the rooftop. No “welcome”.. nothing..
waitresses were super nice. Drinks OK. Ambience is nice with the view of water tower.. not sure if we will coming back.

Came in on a slow Sunday night to relax and try something new. I really loved the experience here. Very posh and welcoming atmosphere. The terrace has a great view of Michigan Avenue and despite being a bit chilly, had several people outside. They have a fire going and public blankets for those willing to use them. The biggest impression for me however, was the quality of the drink. OMG, one of the strongest ever, for me anyway. Reminded me of Violet Hour in terms of quality. I was initially put off by the $23 price, but quickly realized I was very much getting my money's worth. 2.5 Oz of Mezcal in this Paloma. I had such a buzz going and the strangest part, I couldn't even finish it. This is a great bar and if you are looking for something more on the sophisticated side, this is it (note, there are no TVs so this is not a place to watch sports, which is a good thing IMO). One of my new haunts from now on when I'm in town.
