I really want to give it 5 stars but unfortunately the Franchise in Vancouver did a much better job than Chicago-Chinatown.
There was only a single staff working so the order took much longer than it should. I kind of felt bad for the auntie working by herself while still managed to make the fried chicken taste very delicious.
Food is good. I prefer a bit more seasoning but the chicken has a unique taste to it that you usually get in mainland china.
Service was terrible. Ordered pickup and when I arrived, wait a couple minutes for no one to even be at the front desk. I saw a person all the way in the back but he couldn't hear me call him. No bell or anything at the front to ring. Extremely awkward experience.
Dare I say the best fried chicken I've ever had? It's just so juicy and tender, almost doesn't feel like it's chicken. I guess that's why it's called chicken steak
ZhengXin Chicken Steak is a popular spot in the Chinatown basement food court, described as one of the best street foods. The incredibly delicious chicken has a perfect crunch and a hint of spice. The spicy chicken is nicely done and thin. Portions are generous and affordable, including fried chicken, sausages, and fried sesame balls. The food is very filling and even shareable. While the wait can be 30-40 minutes, it is considered worth it. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The shared space has plenty of tables, though the area is not the cleanest.
