Merichka's Restaurant is a beloved local institution with a retro 1950s atmosphere. The restaurant has a large capacity, featuring several dining rooms and a circa 1940s bar. The menu is extensive, offering a variety of options, including the signature Poorboy Steak, the Icelandic Cod sandwich, and other sandwiches, as well as full meals with lobster, salmon, and steaks. The Poorboy Steak, a highlight of the menu, consists of a ground beef patty on garlic bread, served with pickles and lettuce. Customers have praised the Po Boy with complete garlic butterine, noting the extremely tender beef and crunchy bread, making it a terrific choice. The restaurant also offers a kids' menu and wheelchair accessibility, although the latter is limited due to stairs. While some customers mentioned that prices for sides can be high and that they found the restaurant more focused on American cuisine than ethnic options, the food remains generally excellent, with tender Icelandic Cod and a wide range of choices to satisfy various tastes. Overall, Merichka's is a treasured local spot that has been a staple for generations, with great service and a clean environment.
