My husband and I celebrated our anniversary by eating here on Sat. Feb 7th. Nice atmosphere for having conversations. The beef short ribs were so tender. The garlic roasted green beans & mashed potatoes yummy.

I am a local but this was my first time at Taproot, it was delicious, I will definitely go back soon.
I had the Signature Short Ribs with Mashed Potatoes and garlic roasted green beans. I’ll admit when the food came out, I thought I was going to leave hungry, but it really was plenty of food.
I also started with the appetizer they had in special, some breaded mushrooms with rooster sauce. They were good, but I was wishing I would have tried the Calamari.
The server was so friendly and great. Pretty too. ;)
The restaurant is on Merchant Street in downtown Decatur, one of the coolest streets in Decatur with lights stretched over the street.

Came early on a Saturday night (5pm). First off, our server was great- friendly and attentive. I’m sorry I didn’t make note of her name. She was especially accommodating with our 3 year old. Although TapRoot has high chairs they don’t have a written kids menu but offered fried chicken or mini corn dogs.
For the adults we ordered the lobster-stuffed mushrooms (which were tasty) and the cheese curds (which had a great dipping sauce). For entrees- the burger (it was O.K.) and the crab-encrusted cod (which was NOT worth $27 and only had about 50% of the cod “encrusted.”). We tried one cocktail which was average. The brownie dessert was cooked in a skillet and ended up being dry, but very chocolaty.
Overall a pleasant meal but a little pricey.
Also note they do NOT have a changing table in the bathroom if you come with young children. I was unable to change my 1 year old in the bathroom; however, the hostess was accommodating and found me a private spot to do her diaper change.

First time going and ordered the lobster mushrooms for an appetizer and it took over an hour before it came out…got our food which was not very impressive in the taste and steaks were more medium well than medium rare. Unfortunately probably won’t be going back as the service was not great either. I wish we would have had a better experience for the first time especially since it was a special occasion.
Absolutely amazing! The freshly baked rolls are served drenched in melted butter. The perfectly cooked butcher's steak, served with twice baked potato and roasted garlic green beans, was one of the best meals I've had in a restaurant.

Me and my wife try to eat here once a month or so and time and time again it has been consistently amazing. Wine list is great and steaks are to die for . I would recommend the calamari for appetizers and garlic mashed potatoes and veggie of the day has always been perfect

Wife and I went there for b'day. We always try go a few times a year. Their calamari is the best around. French onion soup is the best and reminds me of Stoneys. Meal was out standing. This place is best in town and the area.

That was possibly the worst old fashion that I have ever paid for.

I had the drunken pork chop. I’d suggest asking for it to be cooked to med. For me it was a bit over cooked. My wife had the crab encrusted cod and she loved it along with espresso chai martini, saying it was tasted like a dessert.
