Wonderful Mediterranean food! We came in on a Sunday night. The restaurant was full and we had to wait 15 minutes for a table for three but the wait went by quickly. Our server came right away and we ordered the Plateia Signature Martini and a bottle of Estate Hatzimichalis wine. I loved the martini and the wine was a full bodied Cabernet which was very delicious. For appetizers we ordered the Greek trio which came with tzatziki, skordalia, and taramosalata. We also got the octopus and fried calamari. They all tasted so fresh and delicious. They even bring fresh bread and olive oil for the table. Add some black pepper to the olive oil and dip that in the bread and it is so tasty! For dinner we had the yogurt chicken breast, chicken skewers with vegetables, and pork skewers with fries. Omg so tasty. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the pork was tender and tasty!! I highly recommend Plateia!

Always fresh and as authentic to Greek as you'll taste in the NW suburbs. Beautiful patio during warmer months. Delicious salads and skewers. Just wish Saganaki (flaming cheese) was actually served with flames at the table instead of brought already extinguished from the kitchen.

Had lunch with a friend yesterday as my 1st visit to Plateia. Service was fantastic -from the host, our server and even the water guy. fast, friendly, attentive and not overbearing. I had the large Greek salad-add chicken . Portion was perfect as a salad entree and everything was fresh. Looked pleasing. It was served pre-dressed but dressing amount was appropriate. My friend recommended the restaurant and has been here (and carried out) several times. My friend had the Avgolemono soup and the Riganati Chicken. The Riganati was a generous 1/2 chicken portion and had a beautiful presentation. I through price/value was good overall. We left at 1:30 pm and the place was surprisingly full for a week-day early afternoon. I held back on my overall star and food star rating because I only had a salad and it was just a lunch. I look forward to bringing family and friends here in the future to explore entrees and dinner hour.

When considering this restaurant for a night out, it's best to consider the time you're going. They do not take reservations and the lot is not big enough to support a full restaurant.

Our party of 6 went on a Saturday night around 7:30 pm which was a better time selection as many parties of 10+ people show up earlier in the evening. And we were lucky as when we pulled into the parking lot, there was a space right in front. There is no valet.

Our party just arrived as well and we were immediately seated (I guess it's lucky that one of our party knows the owner). And heck, it's a good problem to have as a restaurant that doesn't take reservations to always be busy.

The downside is that it tends to get quite loud inside and they do pump in music too, so the noise level is up there.

We have been here multiple times and the food is always amazing.

My wife and I always start off with the saganaki. However, we are no longer ordering this at Plateia or any Greek restaurant as part of the order is the entertainment value - and in the last several months, Greek restaurants have stopped lighting the cheese ablaze tableside. We don't know why they don't. It might be a new code, safety code, or otherwise. However, at Plateia, the saganaki we received was just a hunk of slightly warm block cheese. It wasn't its normal melty oozy goodness, just a lifeless block of cheese. It wasn't even hot. They really need to take it off the hot appetizer menu and place on the cold appetizer menu. However, it was just tepid and tasteless.

Thankfully, it was not a sign of food to come.

I also ordered a bowl of the Avgolemono soup. Plateia's is really one of the best I've ever had. Not too thick and not too thin, has pieces of chicken and rice in the soup. Add a squeeze of lemon and it's perfection! Perfect for a warm or cold night. This is my comfort food jam. Add in their loaf of warm bread and I am in heaven.

I ordered their Char-Grilled Chicken, which is my staple at Greek restaurants, and Plateia doesn't disappoint. The chicken is juicy and flavorful.

Others in our party all enjoyed their orders equally as well as I did: the Moussaka (baked eggplant), Pastichio (basically Greek lasagna), Skewers (pork and chicken), the Greek salad, and Skordalia (garlic spread).

Our service was fantastic as our server made multiple trips to our table checking in on us and refilling drinks as needed. The owner and her husband also stopped by to say hello and check in on food and service.

This is a fave of ours and we'll definitely return.

Vegetarian options: Many dishes are vegetarian as it is with Greek food. You will not be forced to choose from only a couple items on the menu.

Parking: There is a free parking lot surrounding the restaurant, however, it's not a very big lot, so making plans to visit should be earlier or later to ensure spots are available.

The beet salad almost out of beets, but instead a lot of figs.
Chicken was overcooked. Salmon asked to grill plane, no salt, but it came salty and spicy

Once the most delicious restaurant for moderate prices, but now I don't recognize this place. Bread is served in 4 pieces, squid or octopus on the plate is almost invisible, everything on the grill comes half-raw. Dear owners, I understand that the prices of products are increasing, I am in favor of increasing the prices on the menu, but so that you can come and eat deliciously as before in a good atmosphere of the establishment.

My family and I chose to dine at this restaurant on Saturday evening. Since they don’t accept reservations, my parents arrived 15 minutes early to ensure we secured a table. A hostess informed them that our table was ready. However, as my parents began to walk to the table, another hostess abruptly stopped them, asking if the rest of our party had arrived. My parents explained that we were parking just around the corner and would be in shortly. My father, who is scheduled for hip replacement surgery and finds it difficult to stand for even a short period of time, politely asked if they could be seated while they waited for us to join them. A manager overheard the conversation and dismissively pointed to a bench for my father to sit.

Frustrated, my father asked the manager why he couldn’t be seated at the table, which was ready, rather than being forced to sit in the lobby for two minutes. At that point, the restaurant’s owner stepped in. When my father reiterated that we were about to arrive and that he understood the policy, the owner rudely responded, “This is our policy. Don’t tell me how to run my restaurant. If you don’t like it, the door is right behind you—you’re welcome to leave.”

I overheard this exchange while on the phone with my mother, and I was appalled. With the restaurant industry struggling as it is, I expect a higher standard of customer service, especially from an owner. To treat my parents, particularly my father who was in pain, with such blatant disrespect is completely unacceptable.

As a result, we will never return to Plateia. No meal is worth the kind of treatment we received. If this is how the owner speaks to customers, I can only imagine how the rest of the staff operates. This establishment needs to seriously reconsider its approach to customer service.

Your restaurant has always been the best for us. We sometimes came to you and ordered impeccable, delicious dishes.
Today we celebrated our daughter's Birthday. There were only four of us - we decided to spend a family dinner at our favorite restaurant.
We got a great welcome, waited for the available table, we had a great waiter.
One of our favorite dishes is octopus. My wife and I ordered it today. Unfortunately, two servings were burned on one side to black, it was bitter. I ordered tuna tartare. Unfortunately, the restaurant disappointed me here as well. Tartar was tasteless and watery. This is the worst tartare I've eaten in my life.
I didn't want to ruin the evening tonight, so we didn't tell the waiter anything. You greeted us very warmly, and I'm sorry that your dishes did not meet our expectations today.
I really hope that today it happened because of the large number of customers, although this quality is unacceptable for such a restaurant. I really wish your restaurant would still be our family's favorite restaurant.
