Mulgrews is a dive bar famous for their chili dogs. Went there with some college friends from 40 years ago and it's largely the same great hangout, best after a long night of drinking!!
There are certain places that you go to experience. Mulgrew's is that type of place. If you're visiting Dubuque, it's just short drive across the bridge. Join the locals at the bar and have a good ole fashion chili dog with a snap. Is it the best dog I've ever had? Probably not. Was it good? Ya-it's a chili dog. Nothing beats the original footlong chili dog. Had my first one as a kid in the early 60's on the family Sunday road trip to Illinois (Iowa was dry at the time). Anytime I'm back in the area, need to stop in for one, or maybe two.
