I really enjoyed this family restaurant. The service was great and the food was very good. I had the Southern Eggs Benedict, and it was great. My daughter had the homemade chicken tenders and they were very good too. Overall, everyone else enjoyed their food too. Will definitely be back. Did I mention they've lowered their prices during this ridiculous inflation? Support this place, it's an example of our great Elgin community!

The food was very good. I had the pot roast. The service was great, and everyone was friendly . Would go back again.

We've recently rediscovered this place after not having been here since the pandemic. They did lower prices across the board, which is commendable. Overall, the staff is decent. There are a couple of waitresses that could use some additional training, especially in regards to service. The owner is rarely there in the evening, which is unfortunate because the staff seem to be running the place. The food has been really good; the soups are delicious. Our only real complaint is the closing time & the way the employees are as it gets close to closing. The closing time 6 days/week is clearly posted as 8. Not 10 till 8, not quarter till 8. We've seen customers come in close to closing and waitresses & even the hostess have turned customers away, telling them the kitchen is closed even though it's not 8:00. That's poor business. In running & working at a restaurant, one should never assume that you'll leave exactly at 8, but these employees seem bound and determined to do so. Which is why the owner should be there. If you want to close early, then post a sign...the kitchen closes at 7:45. But as it stands, 8 means 8 and nobody should be turned away.

This place is my least favorite and you know why. Because when we were eating these to elders were starring at us and after they left. My mom wanted her eggs fully cooked and told the lady and she gives her fully cooked eggs and then they never did. Also when we were about to leave. My mom was talking to the manager and the manager did not do anything about it and then he said you want lollipop and my 6 year old sister wanted some and my mom said no and my sister was crying and then this lady came and talk to my mom after starring. Also that happens in September 5 2022 when I had blonde hair and when I was 11 years old and I just turned 13 on October 3rd 2023. They should closed down this place and this is the most racist restaurant because my mom is black and did not give her fully cooked eggs. That’s why the omega restaurant in Schaumburg Illinois is way better than this lame place.

It was a cold, blustery day, so I decided I needed a nice hot lunch and chose the Big Skillet restaurant. I was not disappointed. It's a nice, clean restaurant with great employees and great service. (Even the restroom was clean) After perusing their menu I decided upon a comfort classic: the patty melt. It comes with french fries and a soup or salad. As it was cold day, I chose the soup. It was a wonderful cream of potato soup. Thick and rich and really hit the spot! Their soups change daily and have lots of choices in their rotation. The patty melt on marbled rye was a generous size and satisfied me in every way. I had some strong black coffee to accompany the meal. I left feeling full and satisfied. They've recently began lowering their prices too! Imagine that, great food, service and value! All in all, I will be back here again.

We've been going here for years. Food portions are very generous, and pricing is good. George and his staff has always given us quality service attention, with every meal we've had there, always something to look forward to. Many many choices on the menu. Take out service is amazing fast and always accurate. October-fest menu is something that will make your mouth water! Delicous! We feel, it's an Elgin treasure.
