Found myself way down Randall Road and in the mood for pollo rostizado but given that it was close to 8pm I knew the likelihood of that happening was very low if I headed back home so I did a quick search and found that Elgin had their own (original?) La Casa Del Pollo Asado serves excellent, exceptional food. The carbón-grilled chicken is very tasty with a crispy skin packed with flavor, though it can be a little dry. The chicken is so good that some customers love it and could eat it every day. All the sauces are amazing, and when they say HOT, they mean it. The great salsas and the delicious homemade sauce add the perfect kick. The rice is mid, but the frijoles charros are very good. The quesabirrias, with rice and beans, are super delicious and fresh. The Carne Asada is 20usd and the most expensive on the menu, but recent visits show the Sliced Avocado is only 1/3 as much and the beef is only half as much. The restaurant offers good service, good prices, and great customer service. It is a great spot for anyone looking for simple, high-quality food done right.
