I come in three days a week before class. Every one there is always smiling and providing the best customer service possible. Their drinks are unique and very delicious. I highly recommend anyone stopping in for a good morning cup to brighten their day.

This place is a hidden gem - at least for me! I have typically visited ‘other’ coffee shops in my immediate area - of which there are a TON since we live on a university campus. Everyone always talks about how great Backlot is, and 3 drinks are pretty much always mentioned - the lavender latte with oat milk, the oatmeal cookie latte, and the chai latte! Well, I can attest that they are all unusual and all AMAZING! And this is coming from someone who NEVER likes chai!!! Plus they are so nice at the Sherman Avenue location and the shop is always impeccably clean. I’m not a black coffee drinker but I hear their Flying Squirrel roast is also a huge crowd pleaser. Do yourself a favor and go to Backlot today! Ohhhhh...they also have delicious donuts, burritos, and other tasty treats!!!!

Located right in the heart of downtown Evanston, Backlot is a super convenient and delicious place to stop for a coffee and/or snack. While I didn't indulge in any of the food; the packed pastry case was full of sweet and savory treats that looked amazing. I went with a standard hot black coffee. Is was very smooth and wasn't served scauldingly hot. They currently have some picnic benches outside if you can handle the cold!

I absolutely love Backlot Coffee. Located downtown Evanston this location is a bit smaller than the one on Central but does not disappoint. However, I would love it if the fresh cinnamon rolls can come to this location too! They have a wonderful selection of coffee and tea. My favorite are the lavender, oat latte, or grapefruit green tea! They are also incredibly fast with service and you never have to wait long for your drink. Also, there are some foods to choose from. I tried the turkey apple sandwich and it was amazing and such a refreshing tasty lunch! I have also tried out their gluten-free cinimmon donut and scone, both very very tasty. Great service, great food, and even a table outside to enjoy your drink on. Cant complaint and highly recommend checking them out.

Another place that has lost its mind and its business. First came in with a scarf (facial covering) and ordered and chatted with the gentleman barista. I was concerned the maple latte would be too sweet so he suggested light syrup. I said we could always add more and that was it. The flavor wasn't too strong so I returned for a little more syrup. When I got to the counter the girl who couldn't stop staring at my tats rudely said you cannot come in here without a mask! It's the law!! Well no honey (Karen?) facial coverings are the mandate, not law, and if you chose not to honor the mandate well you lose business. And so your social justice warrior b******* will not go unnoticed by people who are very awake. Good luck.

Ordered a medium coffee and it was just not impressive. Might as well go down to get one from Duncan Donut. The server was also not too nice. No reason for me to go back.
