I've been wanting to go this place for a long time and I finally got a chance to stop by. I ordered the rib tips, sausage and chicken. I was pretty disappointed that The tips and chicken were pretty flavorless and relied on a sauce that was below average. The saving grace was the sausage, cornbread and fries. I would suggest to season the tips and chicken and go back to the drawing board with sauce. The people were nice so I hope the food improves in the future.

I moved away from Evanston 40 years ago and Hecky’s back then was very good. I’m here for a bit doing some caregiving and have sampled a few establishments that I remembered. On its own Hecky’s food is still awesome and as compared to other establishments it stand at the top of the pyramid. Great barbecued chicken. Service is still great too. Prices have gone up everywhere and I think they’re still competitive.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality. Corn muffin is unassuming and wrapped like a cheap muffin but tastes like heaven. All the meats and sauces are also on point. We showed up half hour before close and still couldn't deny the flavor and texture. Hot sauce here has a unique kick also that I've yet to decipher what the aftertaste is. Underrated joint for bbq in Chicagoland.

First time hearing about this BBQ Restaurant.... And was i surprised to find authentic SMOKED/BBQ!! TASTY, DELICIOUS, MEATY, Cooks in the kitchen cooking!!! It's not easy to find real good cooked BBQ, living up north. But I was amazed! Well worth the trip to Evanston in the Chicago Winter! The cashier and the pit master preparing the food were all respectful and polite!
