I visited the restaurant today and my beer battered cod was slightly raw, I let the waitress know and she offered to put it back it the fryer after is eaten on it and handled it with my hands. If I had agreed, they would have cooked someone else's food in the oil, not knowing if I add a contagious disease. I asked if I can have a new order she said no. However she gave me a 50% discount.

Does have a slight mildew basement smell.

First time visiting Prairie Moon this evening. It was very fantastic. We ordered the catfish nugget appetizer to start which was spot on delicious. I then had the shrimp and crawfish ettofiee with an added blackened catfish filet which I must say was absolutely out of this world amazing. Every flavor was there and spot on. My wife ordered the pan seared whitefish with mashed potatoes and broccoli which again was fantastic. We were in town from Wisconsin for a concert this evening but are thinking we may have to make this drive again just for this meal. Great place to enjoy a great meal.

The cups, plates, utensils, all dirty and not just a spot or two. We asked for plastic- ware. Good thing the food was good but it made me wonder what the kitchen looked like.

The food tasted fantastic and the portions were huge. Staff was very friendly and the overall atmosphere was cosy.

Kid-friendliness: Had a high chair and the kids got pens and paper

Most likely the best happy hour deals in Evanston. Many bars don't even have one, and if they do, discounts are miniscule. We love how happy hour includes drinks and bites. Dinner is always solid. Not the most gourmet pasta (not homemade), but tasty and worth the reasonable price.

We haven't taken advantage of their Wednesday Jazz nights, but we appreciate the late hour (for Evanston, anyway) entertainment.

Prairie Moon is a diamond in the rough for Evanston in every meaningful way. I have now been 3 or 4 times and have been wowed each time. The food on offer is very elevated for “bar food,” and (hopefully saying this doesn’t change this) is such unbelievably good value.

The interior is a basement. It’s not going to blow you away with its modernity or luxury. If you go in with the expectation that you’re in a basement bar, though, you’ll leave with a resonant “where did I just go?” feeling in the best way.

I’ve been with groups of people each time I’ve been from vastly different walks of life, and everyone finds something here, and thus far, is impressed by it. Serious compliments to the head chef or whomever curates this menu, because this is not standard bar fare for the quality.

I am typically fairly critical of places I go (though I do not often leave bad reviews), but it’s hard to find a bad thing to say about Prairie Moon. To the restaurant — keep up the great work. To the would-be patrons — keep this high on your list.

Rob and the team provided our family with a great shrimp boil dinner to celebrate during a family gathering. He helped us work out appropriate amounts. The dinner for 8-10 was delivered right on time, hot, with sides and dessert in perfect order. It was neat to unpack and delicious. So grateful!!???

Great place, great people. We were there for Mother's Day brunch and I don't think the buffet is their normal fare. I'd like to come back and have a regular meal because the location is great and so is the staff.
