It's really sad how black of every nation can not be on time. We traveled all the way from Calumet City to get food and there's a sign on the door saying that they won't be opened until 1:30 today. This is a business with business hours. I certainly hope the food is worth the wait.

Note to self. Only take out so we did not eat here. The menu looked good. Maybe next time. The restaurant is in Evanston. Right across the street is Chicago where you can use the Chicago park app?

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!I’ve been coming here for years, as of recent they’ve been slacking with customer service and professionalism! I placed an order on UberEats for pick up, & when I arrived I intended on getting my order. I ordered two brown stew chicken dinners & a pineapple cola. They close at 9pm, but they had the door locked at 7:30ish. I was confused. I looked through the window and I saw the older jamaican man and lady EATING BROWN STEW CHICKEN DINNERS. Hmmm Like are you serious???? He reluctantly came to the door and said there was NO FOOD AVAILABLE and that there was no order that came through. I showed him that I did in fact order two brown stew and a cola for pick up. He then changed his story and claimed he “tried” to call me and tell me that they were “out of stock” with my order request. He kept saying there was no food and at the same time did not want to cancel my order through UberEats!! This establishment is VERY unprofessional!! How can I not think they prepared my food all to eat it themselves and claim it was “SOLD OUT” once I arrived???!!! They obviously don’t like making money here. This is how businesses easily lose customers!! That’s the problem with a lot of these Chicago - Evanston businesses!! They aren’t committed to making money and delivering CONSISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. If you want your money taken away from you and you don’t receive food, order here.

I can't rate this place because they had no chicken ?

Foods good but I don't think a plate should be 16.50 plus tax and only get 1 singluar plantain slice as a side and why are the sides 7 dollars ?

I'm so glad we finally found some great authentic Jamaican food close to home! Our first time trying Taste of Jamaica was for a delivery order. We ordered the beef patties and jerk chicken plates and every part of the meal was flavorful. The rice and beans were some of the best I've ever had. Jerk chicken pieces were seasoned and marinated well even without the jerk sauce. That said, adding that slightly sweet, spicy jerk sauce really elevated the experience. The plates come with two sauces and honestly, we couldn't help ourselves from drizzling the rice and the chicken with it. Im ending with the cabbage but don't get me wrong, that cabbage was not at all a side show. It was filled with flavor and complimented by carrots as well. Everything was perfection. Portions were generous and absolutely worth the money. We can't wait to order from Taste of Jamaica again very soon.

I’ve tried Jamaican food from so many places in Chicago and so far, this is the best I’ve had. I drove 30 minutes from the city to this location and as you can see from the pictures, it was totally worth it. Food was fresh and delicious. I had the beef patty and combination plate (with oxtail, jerk chicken and extra plantains). The oxtail was nice and tender, the jerk chicken was tasty and delicious, not dry at all. I’m personally not a fan of overripe plantain but the overall experience was good. The rice and peas was very tasty, not dry at all and the beef patty was good. The food was also hot and ready upon pickup. 10/10 recommend! I’ll definitely be back.Parking: Paid street parking available and free parking

Huge portions, great service, and even better tasting food! The place was small but enough space to wait. Not too long of a wait and everything was very authentic. The lady which I think was the owner was so sweet! There was some confusion since my receipt didn't print but they dealt with it well. A neighborhood gem for sure!!!
