Dont expect to walk up and order food like any other business that exists. No one is interested in talking to you and you will wait an hour if you haven't ordered prior to arriving.

The chips were stale, the salmon was dry and the pork was chewy.

My favorite place in Evanston. Orders are consistently ready within 5 minutes of placing online. The food is good and still affordable. Great place to grab a workday lunch

This is TAKE OUT ONLY - I didn't know that at first, but hey, good to know. The food was good! Decent vegan options, though not particularly incredible. The tofu and mushroom tacos were nice with the salsa, but I was hoping for more flavor and spice overall. There's some great vegan tacos in the city, but for Evanston, these were solid!

The food is excellent. Half the time I order something extra (eg guac with the bean and cheese burrito), it doesn't appear. But two things: a) I finally figured out how to call them about it, and they were very helpful. and b) their food is so tasty, that it's still totally worth it.

Tomate Fresh continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Evanston. Considering prices and quality, few restaurants compare in my eyes. There's no in-house seating, but it's ready so fast and it's so delicious that there's no need to linger. (It's also across the street from a park for an easy picnic.) My favorite dishes include anything with their black beans and grilled cheese combination (not a grilled cheese sandwich, but just a glorious pile of crispy cheese). Make your day instantly better with a visit to Tomate! Thanks, Tomate. I love you.

Vegetarian options: Tomate Fresh gives vegetarians a lot to consider! In either burrito, Taco, or gordita form, one can choose: tofu, black beans, sweet potato, yucca, spicy mushroom, or carmelized onion filling. There are also, on occasion, vegetarian empanadas and tamales. These veg options don't even consider the quesadilla options (like sweet potato or spicy mushroom) or the salads on their menu. It's a refreshing change from only having one or two veg options at a restaurant.
