Tomate Fresh continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Evanston. Considering prices and quality, few restaurants compare in my eyes. There's no in-house seating, but it's ready so fast and it's so delicious that there's no need to linger. (It's also across the street from a park for an easy picnic.) My favorite dishes include anything with their black beans and grilled cheese combination (not a grilled cheese sandwich, but just a glorious pile of crispy cheese). Make your day instantly better with a visit to Tomate! Thanks, Tomate. I love you.Vegetarian options: Tomate Fresh gives vegetarians a lot to consider! In either burrito, Taco, or gordita form, one can choose: tofu, black beans, sweet potato, yucca, spicy mushroom, or carmelized onion filling. There are also, on occasion, vegetarian empanadas and tamales. These veg options don't even consider the quesadilla options (like sweet potato or spicy mushroom) or the salads on their menu. It's a refreshing change from only having one or two veg options at a restaurant.
Literally so good. Nothing else even compares to the taste and quality of the food here. I love the chicken tinga burrito especially. Highly highly highly recommend. If you don't go here you are missing out! I'm dead on the ground every time.

No doubt the best food in Evanston and Chicago. I haven't taste any Mexican dishes that can top this place. The food is really fresh and delicious. The staff is great. This is a must stop place. Before the pandemic, you use to be able to come inside the store, but now, all food is ordered online. Very great food. $$$

If the average Burrito was a Chipotle Carne Asada then this is very starchy in comparison. Being fair I sprung for extras like sour cream and pico de Gallo. I found myself screaming for the little, bland salsa that came with it to change up the giant ball of rice. To the good side, it had a very clean feel and hit the spot in a pinch. If this isn't your neighborhood then there's plenty of other taquerias. It's worth a try.

We hired the taco cart for a backyard summer party and it was fantastic. Tania and her team are so easy to work with and the food was tremendous. Everyone raved. They present plenty of choices for the menu, supplied everything and were timely. The set up and take down was seamless, so it was not only delicious but also convenient! I highly recommend the taco cart for a catering option. It’s better than a truck in so many ways, it’s quicker and more personal, and quiet and clean.

Favorite burritos from anywhere! So fast for pick up. Highly recommend the chili rellenos burrito. Tofu and yucca are also excellent. Amazing for vegetarians.They only do pick up.Vegetarian options: Multiple delicious vegetarian burritos!

Was excited to visit this place only to find out they were doing online orders only. Had to stand there and make the order online and then wait for the food. The first person I interacted with here was somewhat rude about the fact that it was online only, but the person who handed me the food was much friendlier. They did have a small table and 4 chairs outside on the sidewalk. Wasn't the most ideal eating space, especially considering 2 people by a train got into a screaming match during my meal. Can't control crazy pedestrians. I just wish they had a space to sit and eat. However, when we did get our food it was delicious. My burrito was slightly overpriced in my opinion but it was yummy.Parking: Paid parking lot right across the street.

Excellent food. Like Mexican, but yummy flavor. Try the sweet potato burrito. I mean it. I get it in a bowl and put it over lettuce. Chicken Tinga Burrito is also great. If you want cheese, you have to add it on.Ready in minutes.No indoor dining. Order online; your food will be ready in a jiffy. Pick it up at the window, and take it to the park across the street.Vegetarian options: Sweet potato burrito. Oh, did I already say that? I really mean it.
