Love dark coffee and chocolate stouts. The coca nuts was pretty good. I loved tje flavor. Not too thrilled of the bitter bite but after a few sips I rather enjoyed that part too. Will definitely have it again. The atmosphere is warm and sharp. I went when there was no one else and that's what I like. But I bet this place gets packed on the weekend summer nights.

The best thing was our greeter at the door she had 4 legs and a wagging tail.... the neutral decor throughout is very welcoming and relaxing 9 beers on tap and a full bar gives a great selection. The overhead doors bring the outdoors inside so it gives plenty of seating. The hops growing outside is a nice touch

Great outdoor space, but that was about it. The place is very cool, and the vibe is great, but not in love with the beer. The amber was good, but nothing else, really. I was looking forward to coming here, but a swing and a miss!

Finally was able to make it out here to Generations as I am doing a job now just 10 minutes away near Pecatonica. I brought a growler to fill and the bartender was awesome and let me sample a few beers so I could decide which..... which was a hard choice with so many great brews. Ended up with a 6 pack of No Promises which has an incredible smooth flavor but my top pick for the growler was the POG Pils- an insanely flavorful fruit pilsner. The brewery itself is very nice. Glad this job should last all summer long cause I will definitely be back for more refills.

Good beer selection, friendly staff.

Wonderful place! We were there for a grad party. The bartender let my husband sample some beer before he picked. They have bags and checkers outside to play. There are also tables and chairs outside. We had so much fun!!

Really cool brewery in Pretzel town. Good selection of Ale, Porters and Stouts. Something not on the menu but it is freshly prepared is their pretzel which is available in two sizes. Sit outside to play live size chess or bag toss

A hidden gem in Freeport. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Plenty of outdoor seating and a very dog-friendly environment. All of the beers I've tried have been very good.

Definitely biased, but I love Generations - the atmosphere, the beer - so great!
I’ve been to more than a handful of breweries and this had to be the most disappointing one. The beer was mediocre and the staff were very un inviting. I was with a group of 4. We walked in at 7:30ish and we’re immediately stared at by the handful of people sitting at the bar including the employees. Nobody welcomed us or greeted us. It felt like I walked into a small town hole in the wall bar. We sat down at a table that had a “menu” thinking someone would come take our order. We sat there for 10ish mins. Nobody greeted us. Finally one of the guys we were with went up to the bar and ordered for us. I actually wanted to leave. It wasn’t like there were a ton of people and they were too busy. The employees were just standing there looking at us. If you wanted us to go to the bar you should have said something after a couple mins of us sitting there. The place has potential. I’ve never been to a brewery that wasn’t excited about their product. We drank our drinks and left. Next time you have people patronize your establishment I would recommend welcoming them and not glare. You never know who’s going to be writing a review. 100% of the time I’ll buy growlers, 6 packs or whatever you got for sale to take with me. Very disappointed.

Great local brewery ... had myself a stout. Love me my foam mustache. Waited a bit to get waited on then realized we just go up to the bar and order. Wide range of options.

I've waited years before writing a review of Generations.First off, the beer is great! But in all honesty something is happening when it's being distributed. I have purchased countless six packs from different stores across Northern IL and something is just off about their beer almost every time. I say almost because this doesn't happen with their seasonal beers. And I am a huge fan of their seasonal beers! But their regular brews are just not consistent.Luckily I live close enough to get it fresh from the source, but today was my last time buying it from anywhere else.I grabbed a six-pack of pretzel city amber and brought it home only to pour that first beer right down the drain. It tasted so strongly of coriander, which I didn't think was very strong in the countless other times I've had it.
