We love this restaurant. It is so cozy and classy. The menu has many delicious options. We've never had a bad meal. We were celebrating my husband's birthday, and when we got there, they had decorated our table with birthday confetti and a Happy Birthday balloon. Such a nice touch!

We had an awesome dinner last evening with appetizers, entree's and desserts as well as Cocktails. Everything from the hostess , the waitress and their helpers was perfect. The food was amazing from Pasta to Seafood Dishes ,Steaks and BBQ Ribs. There wasn't one complaint around the table. The desserts were amazing even though we shared as there was more than enough food to fill us. I highly recommend the General's Restaurant when traveling to Galena.

My husband visited on Saturday morning. Since it’s off season they were not busy at all. We had a well seasoned waitress who was excellent at her job! Our waters were frequently filled and so were our coffees. The food was delicious and reasonable too! The setting was really nice and quiet to talk. Definitely recommend visiting!

The staff was ignorant and rude. We had an 8pm reservation and upon checking in and stated our reservation we were told to see the hostess. She passed by our group twice never acknowledging us. Manager was at the bar never acknowledging our group and other staff passed by as well. Finally a waitress asked us if we were waiting to be seated and instructed us that they close at 8pm. Upon leaving I asked the front desk worker why she didn't say anything to us knowing we were there for our 8pm reservation and the hostess was there as well. Why you take a reservation knowing you close at 8pm for 8pm is unknown but to not acknowledge customers and at a minimum apologize for the confusion or mistake is beyond me.

Salads were not brought but we asked when the meal was served if we could have them after our meal which they did. Restaurant seemed understaffed. Our waitress was nice but extremely busy. Would not go here on New Years Eve again. Food was good except my guest's lobster (he ordered surf & turf) tasted like it was coming from a blender. I had the same meal and mine was ok. We did not hear from the manager at all. As I said they seemed to be under staffed.

Our filet mignons were cooked perfectly and were very flavorful. The oysters Rockefeller and shrimp cocktail were also outstanding. The venue was wonderfully hushed and the server, Gavin, was attentive.

Overall great experience. Compared to a Chicago steakhouse, it's a totally different experience, but it was quite enjoyable. Our waitress did an outstanding job, she was friendly and hard working. The bus staff also did a terrific job, very classy, professional, and fast. Our food was very good. We got the fried brussels sprout appetizer, and both got burgers. All was very tasty and generous portions. We also brought our 4 month old daughter and they were extremely friendly and accommodating to her. Great experience!
A little pricy, but I'd still go back. There was an unaware customer at a table near us who was loud. Other than that, excellent!

Service was excellent. Restaurant was extremely clean and taken care of. Buffet looked great and had multiple options. I got a turkey sausage and egg meal with a pancake and it was delicious. Farm fresh eggs cooked to perfection, and the pancake was mouth-watering. Will love to come again when in Galena

There was absolutely nothing redeeming about any of the meal, except the bottle of wine we selected. We couldn't eat the steak with all of the gristle. Vegetables were bland and hard to eat. 0 flavor. Even the gratin potatoes had no taste.

our experience here was terrible. we had a reservation at 5:15 and we got sat exactly then which was perfect. no one acknowledged us at our table for 15 minutes and we then put in our drink and food order which our drinks did not come for 30 minutes additionally the bread did not show up for 45 minutes. at the one hour mark we asked how much longer our food was going to take (keeping in mind we came in town for the annual parade driving 6.5 hours and the parade starts at 6:30) she said it would be an additional 15 minutes for food which if we sat there and waited and then ate we would've missed the majority of the parade. we got our checks from there with no dinner and spent $85 on drinks and some shrimp cocktail which was mediocre at best. would not recommend going back.
