We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and Generals not only gave us exceptional service, but also put rose petals on our table as an extra wonderful feature. I would highly recommend generals to anyone traveling to Galena.

A little pricey but the food was worth it.

Lovely old haunted hotel restaurant. If you love blue cheese, don't pass on the creamy blue cheese soup-it is wonderful. Service was very good. It was our anniversary and they seated us at a table strewn with flower petals and some chocolate squares. Nice touch.

Our server Cam was outstanding, very friendly and helpful! Pork chop was cooked perfectly for my husband as were my scallops. Brussels sprouts and creamed spinach were very good too!

Good sized portion of walleye with a creamy sauce. Sides of creamed spinach and augrattin potato . Blackberry bbq sauced ribs was delightful and tender. Choc chip waffle with ice cream was such a treat. Since it was my birthday, table was decorated with a balloon and confetti.

Bartender was outstanding. Dinner service was great. Our server, Jennifer, was the only server working, but she was attentive as possible. Hostess was carrying on a loud conversation for an extended time period. Very distracting during dinner. Food was prepared well, but I expected higher quality food for the cost.

Karson, Cam, Julia, and the history major Shelby who we’re very entertaining. we had the most amazing meal. You must go here for dinner and just to experience the history of Galena hands-down the best place and will definitely be back highly recommend it. I can’t say enough also you have to have the blue cheese soup.

Very disappointed with the visit. The chicken Marsala was a complete joke. It was one chicken breast with some kind of gravy for $30. Even the waiter was surprised but didn't do anything to address it. Filet was ok but nothing that justified the price for this meal. Our experience was not a good one.

The Bleu Cheese soup was interesting & good. The Blackberry Baby back ribs were also very good. Service and ambiance were excellent (but then again, as a history buff I am a sucker for places like this). Also, a thumbs up on the prosciutto stuffed chicken breast.

General was our last meal in Galena. The food was unusual and tasty. We have never had blue cheese soup or pretzel encrusted walleye. Both yummy! The herb bread was fresh baked and two sides came with the entree. We were treated to a free chocolate waffle with ice cream, Carmel syrup, and whip cream for our 53td anniversary, The atmosphere was quiet, historical, and pleasant/ the only restaurant in Galena that was not noisy. Logan did a good job waiting on us pleasant and professional,

I ordered asparagus and received the root vegetables. They were not that great. I didn't say anything to the waiter as I didn't want him to feel bad it was error. Thought I would give veggies a try and felt again not good. The potatoes Au gratin had no flavor. And they were dry. I would not recommend those. Scallops were very good and gluten free cheesecake was delicious.

Disappointed We had high expectations on Saturday night based on other reviews. We were disappointed. Our server Landon was nice but not the most competent. it took him several trips to the bar to finally get me a bourbon that was acceptable. He could not remember which ones you had. We ordered an appetizer. When our entrees arrived we still had no appetizer. He forgot to place the order. Said it was because of having to get me a bourbon. We had to remind him to bring the bread. Good was okay at best. My pork chop was dry and I had to dip it in my wife's BBQ sauce to make it moist. Never offered desserts. When he brought the bill I was charged $177 for my one drink.

Our service from Julie R was nothing less than spectacular! The food was excellent and attractively plated. The dessert was also excellent! Made our anniversary celebration very special!

Got the walleye. It's Canadian eh. Started with French onion. Didn't see the lady in black but I kept glancing thru the door hoping to catch her out. Historic hotel. Stephen Douglas, Abraham Lincoln and US Grant have all stayed there.
