The cheese pork chop was fried very hard, and I had to drink water to eat it. The sauce and the pork chop were totally incompatible. Although the outside was fried very thin and crispy, the chicken breast was fried very hard, so hard that it lost all its moisture. The menu is more than 80% similar to the New Village on another street, but the product is not as good as New Village.

During many of my reviews, I left my camera bag on the restaurant floor because I didn't want to disrupt their business by pulling up a chair for another table. However, the server here gave me an extra chair and took care of my camera bag. I've never experienced such hospitality in a restaurant before. And when I needed something, all I had to do was raise my hand, and the server would come over to me. -Seafood Jjampong Stew: It was really good. However, I wish they had more seafood. -Oden Soup: it was on the house. Even my daughter, a picky eater, said it was excellent. My personal opinion is that the service was top notch and the flavors were good enough to give this place a 5 star review. If you're a fan of Korean food, this is a must-visit on your next trip to Chicago.

The Kangnam has been on my list for awhile and I’ve wanted to try it. I’ve heard mixed reviews so wanted to test it for myself. Went on a Saturday at 8pm and it was quite empty. I was surprised that a Korean pub would be empty on a Saturday night, but after my dining experience, it explained why it was empty. I drove past other Korean pubs in the area after and they were filled.I made a reservation through Google ahead of time (thinking it was going to be busy). Upon arrival, I let them know that I had a reservation. He looked surprised since clearly, it wasn’t necessary. We were seated promptly and the waitress brought out water cups. She made a mistake and dropped the cups on the floor. She then proceeded to put the same cups on our table, expecting us to drink from it that had touched the floor. We asked for new cups and she apologized and brought out cups. This is common sense for a restaurant- you don’t serve something that touched the floor. We ordered 2 things from the menu:Spicy Whelk with Thin Noodle (골뱅이무침): nice and spicy with somyun. Plenty of whelk within the dish. My typical order at a Korean bar. This is what helped to get 2 stars instead of 1 star.Beef Brisket Cheese Tteok-bokki (차돌 치즈 떡볶이): terrible dish. Tteokbokki flavor was terrible. It had some seasoning similar to ramen that made the flavor interesting. I was afraid chadol might be overpowering but that wasn’t the case. It was very soupy and tastes too artificial.Pass for me.

Stopped by to see if I could finally find some decent army stew in the area. Despite all the delicious Korean places in the area - not a lot of options exist for army stew! I had my go-to back when I lived in the city but had yet to find an army stew that hit the spot the way my regular place did - until I came here! We dined in and was seated promptly for a Friday night. Unfortunately, the place didn't get too busy, which made me sad because the food we had was excellent. We got the cheese spicy chicken - it was just the right amount of smoky. The army stew was excellent, came with all the fixings you'd expect (rice cake, spam, beans, cheese, kimchi, veggies, etc.) and had the right amount of funk/umami. Also, a free soup appetizer came when we sat down - a nice touch, and it was really delicious. Couldn't tell you what it was though - mostly a clear broth. I'll be back - I hope this place sticks around.

Good service. One of the quieter Korean bars in the area. We stopped by on a Friday night and was greeted promptly. Love their variety of drinks and beers to choose from in their menu. We tried the chadol salad, rose dukbokki, and corn cheese. The dukbokki had wide clear noodles instead of the typical ramen noodles you see at different restaurants. The noodles were a little hard to pick up and eat with chopsticks since it was so slippery. But definitely super chewy! We loved the corn cheese and salad and will definitely order again next time we're here.

Its like the gangnam style! I don't know why did I say this... lol I moved from iowa last summer and the food scene in illinois is so good. We are loving the fact that the options to eat is huge. We were 7 of us, not all of them wanted to eat korean food. However everyone wanted a good experience. With that said Kangnam was spot on for the food we had. Being an asian restaurant it was a bit different. Don't want to stereotype things this was a pub with less lights. With TV running in the background looking at streets of Korea may be Seoul and Korean music. Which gave a good vibe. So their entrees were huge would have definitely wanted a side of rice which would've made it even more better. The beers(never tried Korean beer) a unique taste which made it even better. Overall a decent sized portion & a great flavor give a good reason to come back. Will visit soon!

Mmm ? Id have to say that the taste is a little lacking/bland. I don't know if maybe I picked the wrong items or maybe they had an off day but it didn't feel like anything was really seasoned.

My friends and I have been here 15+ times and will keep returning for more. The food here is amazing. We ALWAYS get the rosé tteokbokki with added ramen; it’s best dish I’ve ever had. Large portions (we always take food home) and very good pricing. Absolutely addicting; we come every two weeks or so. Service is good, ambience is lovely and lowkey. Jumeok-bap and army stew also highly recommended!! The kangnam is a must visit!

We had Cheese Tonkatsu and Pork Belly with Tofu. Both dishes are salty and oily, maybe some people like it this way and Tonkatsu is too dry.
