“On Chain of Rocks Road, the original alignment of Route 66 towards the Mississippi River crossing, you'll find the historic Luna Cafè, a very well preserved bar, famous for being a hideout of mobster Al Capone and other prohibition-era gangsters.“

“My family and I are visiting St Louis and stopped in Cafe de Blaire for some ice cream. It was homemade and delicious. On top of that, the owner was sooo kind and warm to my kids. She gave me a sample of a coffee drink and it was delicious. I went back today for more coffee. The other worker was there and also very kind. I am a coffee snob and both drinks I tried were GOOD. We will be back tonight for ice cream. 😊“

“Attended a church conference in St. Louis and was recommended to check out this spot for some really good coffee — and it did not disappoint! ☕️ The coffee was delicious, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We loved it so much that we placed an order to have their coffee shipped to our home! Bonus — you can even choose your grind. This will definitely be our new go-to coffee shipment! 💛“

“Unfortunately I couldn't stay long but I love the amount of tea options that Teatopia has. The person at the counter was super knowledgeable and made the tea how it should be prepared. I had the duck sh*t tea and he told me the history of why it was called that. Plenty of street parking abd there places to sit inside.“

“We went yesterday after a hot but wonderful trip to the zoo. When I tell you the staff was probably the most amazing people I’ve ever come in contact with…I would not be lying! They were beyond friendly & sweet which is the best to encounter when you’re a tourist! The ice cream was top notch & I can’t stop raving about! Thank you for a great sweet treat ❤️“

“Who goes to a place named, “Damn Fine Hand Pies” and only gets donuts and cinnamon rolls until their third visit?? That would be this guy right here.
Damn Fine Hand Pies has a creative selection of donuts, which included some seasonal Girl Scout cookie donuts during my first visit. Despite these donuts looking as thicc as a fudge cheesecake on a cold winter day, the donuts were surprisingly airy — much more airy compared to donuts at similar donut shops in the STL area like Vincent Van Doughnut. So if you are typically a yeast-risen donut fan, don’t be scared off by the cake donut appearance of these Girl Scout donuts (even though the Girl Scouts are known to be one of STL’s most violent gangs).
- Best donut: lemon blueberry (seasonal)
- Most improved: cinnamon roll (new recipe compared to the first version I had in 2024)
- Biggest criticism: Price. The donuts and hand pies are among the priciest in the STL area. With a higher price for menu items, you expect high quality. They usually deliver on this high quality, but occasionally the price doesn't seem worth it.
Lemon blueberry donut > pumpkin spice cake donut with espresso glaze and chopped toffee > key lime handpie & cinnamon roll > maple bacon donut > apple cider donut > marble donut > s'mores handpie > Girl Scout cookie donuts“

“Best Bread I have ever had, and I have been chasing down good bread for 50 years. I have had six different breads, all great. But the trading pane and the sesame are my favorites. Splurge for the tempered butter, it is worth it. Fantastic salads and soups, too. And the smoked beets are to die for!! Worth it to go just for that.“

“I delivered a package here and the owner gave me a couple doughnuts in appreciation. An older gentleman even got out of his seat to open the door for me bc the package was big and heavy. Men were playing chess, the place was clean, and the doughnuts were great. Nice little spot with friendly people.“

“I come to WashU often for work, and Kaldi’s at Mid Campus Center has become a staple stop for me. It’s super convenient for a quick coffee or smoothie in between meetings. Drinks are consistently good, staff is friendly, and service is pretty quick even when it’s busy. Definitely a reliable spot on campus.“
“The food is delicious!!! Best Cesar salad I have ever had! And the chocolate chip cookie was so good as a desert!“
“Small snack stand located next to the Conservation Carousel. They sell hot dogs, corn dogs, calzones, packaged ice cream treats, and other snacks and drinks. There is a small eating area nearby with some tables and chairs. Usually not a crowded spot, so it's a decent place to get a snack - or even lunch, if you want to avoide the Lakeside Cafe.“

“I don’t know if it’s because I’m pregnant or I’m just obsessed with it. Sometimes I eat it twice a day and I get exactly exactly same thing I would get half-and-half, the broccoli cheddar and the green goddess melt which I’m really upset about because they just got rid of it like two days ago.“

“Looking for a place to eat and get a bit of work done in the Central West End? This is it. It has a modern mid-century vibe with a lot of tables. It definitely gets crowded after 10 am on the weekends. Go early to get a spot. I enjoyed the breakfast plate, with sweet potatoes. They also have delicious smoothies. If you are looking for a Starbucks alternative and want more food options, this is your place.“
