Mission BBQ absolutely lived up to its name. The food was outstanding, and the atmosphere made the experience even better.
My family ordered the ribs and the sampler, and everything came out hot, flavorful, and cooked just right. I went with the pulled pork North Carolina style, and it was hands-down some of the best I’ve had. So good that I went back a second time during the same trip. That alone should say plenty.
Beyond the food, the military and first responder theme really sets this place apart. The walls are filled with service memorabilia, photos, and tributes that show real respect, not gimmicks. You can tell this place is built around appreciation, not just branding. As someone with a strong connection to military service, that meant a lot.
The restaurant itself is clean, well organized, and welcoming. The staff was friendly, efficient, and clearly proud of where they work. Even when it was busy, everything ran smoothly and the experience never felt rushed.
Great food, meaningful atmosphere, and consistent quality. If you’re anywhere near Gurnee and want barbecue done right with a side of respect and patriotism, Mission BBQ is absolutely worth your time. I’d gladly come back again

Mission BBQ is an amazing restaurant that supports first responders and military. The atmosphere is amazing and it has the friendliest staff I’ve come across. The food, especially the ribs are second to none. If you haven’t been here, give it a try!!
Absolutely amazing. The ribs fall right of the bone and the brisket was moist. We met Alejandro, who is very very nice. Great service.

As a veteran I always enjoy Mission BBQ with all the photos of our heros. However the food is awesome and the portions are surprisingly large. Customer service is top shelf here with the managers leading the way. In my opinion the best restaurants always have a manager on the floor not hiding in the office.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! They went above and beyond to take care of my veteran fiancé for Veterans Day, (even though we were a day late in being able to visit), taking care of us like family, from the regional director to all the restaurant staff. The food was terrific and my fiancé loved everything; the food, the staff, and the military/first responders decor, and the respect given to veterans. They even put his picture from his Army service days on their wall, which gave him a huge smile when he saw himself displayed on their wall along with photos of so many other veterans. And even though we don't live nearby, we will make it a point to visit them every time we get the chance to. Thanks again to everyone there!!

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! They went above and beyond to take care of my veteran fiancé for Veterans Day, (even though we were a day late in being able to visit), taking care of us like family, from the regional director to all the restaurant staff. I'm not one for BBQ meats, but this is a little piece of heaven. I bring my Nam Vet father here. He loves it. A tender and flavorful pork sandwich with 'cold slaw' is his favorite. Staff is friendly, helpful, and sociable. It feels like a real family when you're here. And the variety of BBQ sauces, just wow.
