Toshi Sushi & Grill

They don’t deserve the reviews based on my experiences. I really don’t understand the bad reviews. Best sushi ever…no but it’s a decent local place! I’ve eaten in the restaurant with the last 10 days and it was good. Kitchen food was HOT and tasty. Sushi (rainbow roll) was great too. Not the best I’ve ever had but good for a local place. We’ve order delivery thru Door Dash a handful of times….packaged well and taste good.

I’ve tried at least 10 sushi places in a 8-10 mile radius of home and Toshi is one of our regular choices especially if we’re in Gurnee

The place was very enjoyable.. Food was fast and non-stop. The atmosphere was good, clean, and organized. Service was good. By the time your drink got close to the bottom, they were there to ask if you wanted a refill.

11/16/24 Highly do NOT recommend! I got a green bay deep fried sushi roll. Every bit of my sushi roll was bland and flavorless besides the batter the sushi was dipped in. The batter tasted like grease, it had a terrible flavor. I asked for eel sauce and got the tiniest amount on my roll, so I asked for extra eel sauce and yum yum sauce to cover up the blandness and the terrible grease flavor.

The waitress had an attitude yet no attitude at the same time. She kept rolling her eyes and acting very inconvenienced at drink refills or asking for sauce. Yet, she would not respond and would walk away with the most expressionless look on her face after doing anything. She did not check on us either. We had to ask a chef if we could get some sauce then when she realized we were talking to him she flew over to intercept the conversation.

My boyfriend had to use the restroom and said it smelled strongly of pee. He got the all you can eat sushi. On his second plate, he didn't like one of the rolls so he went to let the waitress know he wasn't a fan of the flavor so he simply didn't want to take the one roll with him on a to go plate, she had an attitude and scoffed and went to get the plate and returned with our ticket charging an extra $25 for the food that wasn't eaten. Quite a bit excessive for food that did not taste good. Overall, terrible experience. Thankfully we don't live locally so we will not ever have the chance to eat here again nor would we want to.

suspect challenge on this nasty restaurant. Suspect has an attitude when they are just standing around not helping. Suspect gets mad when we say we did not like the food and acts like she made it when she did not. Suspect purposely charges us 25$ for one roll that tasted terrible. Suspect doesn’t know how to pee properly because bathroom icky.

The service wasn't good at all the lady that took our order kept disappearing and had an earbud in we had to get someone else to get our service. The food was not good it was blah no flavor and the bathroom smelled like pee and they had pee in the bathroom floor like it hasnt been cleaned up. The lady charged me $25 for not finishing 2 rolls. I don't recommend it what so ever.

went to this restaurant, the waitress was incredibly rude. She never checked on my table we had to say “excuse me” to get her over or even ask other staff. The food was so bland that it was hard to even swallow the food and when we said we did not like the food and we said we would take another roll home that my brother could not finish, she gave us a nasty look and said she will let it pass this time, even though we had to pay extra for it anyway so we are not leaving it. The bathroom also reeked of pee as if someone peed all over the walls. We were charged 25$ for one roll that we did not finish because it was nasty. Worst restaurant I have ever went to. 😡

I’ve never written a review before anywhere but this place really was not good at all. Just left and feel so sick and it just tasted bad. I really wouldn’t recommend this place and shoulda took the hint when we were the only ones there.

Tiniest piece of fish on the nigiri I've ever seen. It's like they ask right away if they need to put effort into the food by asking Regular or AYCE.

Saw another reviewer had the same cuts of me whose name is also Asian, and other non-white names have also complained. Just run by racists?? I would've tipped more if you didn't serve shameful dishes.

Might have been the worst sushi I’ve had. Rolls were flavorless, all taste the same. Rice to sushi portions were way off, way too much rice. The service was awful, not friendly. The Nigiri sushi, hardly any fish, all rice!!! Talk about being disappointed. We ordered 1 round of AYCE sushi, could not eat anymore of it.

The sushi was so so so sad. The nigiri was warm and barely had fish. Every piece of nigiri and sushi had an ungodly amount of rice. I’ve been here a while back before and it’s sad to see nothing has changed. There was a small hair on one of my rolls and I kept trying to pick all the excess rice off just to see they specifically charge for rice leftover. They know they use too much rice based off of their complaints but they continue to do so in order to scam everyone to get fuller when eating off the all you can eat menu. No flavor in the sushi and just tastes like rice. Poor quality of fish and nothing is fresh. DONT EAT HERE. The lady that works here is very very rude as well and gets annoyed when asked for something. The young man that works there was nice and had great service, he was the only good part of the restaurant.

The AYCE sushi can be the worse in the business. The sushi rice was basically plain steamed rice with no flavor. All rolls with cream cheese were just way overloaded with cream cheese to the point that your meal was ruined with the first bite. Even worse was those fried rolls with cream cheese: they were just vomit inducer. The nigiri Sushi items were very unprofessionally made. The fish pieces were too small and the rice below was wider than the piece above. The overall mentality is that they want you to get full ASAP and get the hell out of there…

Last but not least, they charged $26 a person (with kids also charged for the same price!)
