I really would never return to this place. One of the things I value most is the service, even if your food is terrible.

But if your food is terrible, the customer service is terrible, and I also have to pay, I think I have reasons not to return.

I'm sorry for being so honest, but I'm a home sushi maker, and I think I could do much better than this place. I even thought it would be a good idea to open my own sushi place.

I don't know who the lady who serves is, but I think she should improve her attitude and service. It wasn't pleasant at all, which is why I only gave her 1 star.

We have been coming here for over a decade, and it's our family's favorite sushi restaurant. I don't see anything wrong with the staff eating infront of us, they need to eat too! If it's your restaurant or family business why not? And the waitress has been so kind for SOOOo many years! She's the sweetest lady I swear. If she is not smiling then she must be so tired..Have mercy on that one. We go there so much they literally watched my daughter grow up. Their children have also grown, not sure but I believe the sons help make the sushi and they do an excellent job. People who complain about the sushi tasting plain are most likely so accustomed to eating over processed food with a bunch of salt. Imagine going back and forth cleaning and serving is so tiring, and I bet making the sushi is not easy either. Be kind, you never know what others go through. I have dragged so many friends and family with me to this place through out the years and they all loved it. We do all you can and they work so hard everytime and the sushi is ALWAYS very good.

Our favorite local sushi place! We are regulars and the staff always makes us feel welcome. The AYCE menu has a nice variety, it’s not super fancy but it hits the spot. Personal favorites are the Rainbow Roll and Shrimp Tempura Roll. Also enjoy the gyoza and edamame. If you’re not a sushi fan, they have plenty of options including fried rice and a great chicken teriyaki dish. They’ve also got smoothies (w/boba) if you like 🩷

The best spicy tuna roll I’ve ever had. Laid back establishment with great food and great drinks.

We ordered the all-you-can-eat, after crunching the numbers and finding it may be more affordable. Our server was not attentive and seemed miserable- not one smile the whole time 😢. Our 12 yo son felt very sick during the meal due to a full day in the sun at Six Flags, so he spent half of the meal in the bathroom. He ordered soup and 3 rolls. He could not finish 2 of the rolls, unfortunately, due to feeling sick. They charged us $10 additional (so $36.99 for his meal), despite the fact he was sick and despite the fact his meal did not exceed the $26.99 the all you can eat cost was. It was sad. Sushi was not fresh tasting- no offense to the sushi makers themselves, but the ingredients were not fresh. Bathrooms were filthy. Would not recommend.

Delicious and the personal very friendly

Ordered the three roll lunch special and ended up throwing it out after eating I piece of each. They all tasted like bad grease. I ordered the spicy tuna, spicy salmon and an eel. So I don’t know where the grease came from. But will never come back. I would rather eat from a gas station

This place is an absolute gem, clearly family owned and the food is amazing. The lunch special is so affordable. I eat here at least twice a month. Ask for yum yum sauce! No other sushi place around here offers it!

They don’t deserve the reviews based on my experiences. I really don’t understand the bad reviews. Best sushi ever…no but it’s a decent local place! I’ve eaten in the restaurant with the last 10 days and it was good. Kitchen food was HOT and tasty. Sushi (rainbow roll) was great too. Not the best I’ve ever had but good for a local place. We’ve order delivery thru Door Dash a handful of times….packaged well and taste good.

I’ve tried at least 10 sushi places in a 8-10 mile radius of home and Toshi is one of our regular choices especially if we’re in Gurnee

The place was very enjoyable.. Food was fast and non-stop. The atmosphere was good, clean, and organized. Service was good. By the time your drink got close to the bottom, they were there to ask if you wanted a refill.
