This has been my go to place for a long time. But today, I felt extremely disappointed with the food. Somehow everything tasted and smelled bad. Staff is cordial as always, food was totally not worth it. Probably not going back here for sometime.

Lao Szechuan used to be one of only a few Sichuan restaurants in the Chicago area. There now is a lot of competition and Lao Szechuan has not kept up. Service is impeccable- friendly, efficient staff that makes sure food is served piping hot and glasses kept filled. The kitchen is hit and miss on dishes, which is particularly annoying when the dishes are Sichuan staples. One example of the miss: the spicy wontons wrappers are too thick, too much filling is packed in making the center tough and unable to absorb any sauce, and the sauce is vastly too soupy. One example of the hit: dry chili chicken is always reliable - small pieces of boneless chicken fried with a mass of red peppers and Sichuan numbing peppers. Food portions are generous and prices in line with similar restaurants. If you crave acceptable Sichuan food in the north shore suburbs, this is fine. If you are in the City, go to the original location or go to one of the dozens of competitors that now exist.

As mentioned by many the food and service are fantastic. Location is good as well with nearby parking and good people watching. Same note as others that they do need to put a tad bit more effort into the hallway and restrooms; there’s a ton of food stacked in the hallway and the bathroom was not clean nor maintained at all. So, good food and a nice dining room with super attentive service; just avoid the hall and bathrooms.

Lao Sze Chuan has converted my husband into loving Chinese food. I am grateful for this, because I adore different regional cuisines of China, and I can finally enjoy takeout with my husband,

Ordered delivery from Lao Sze Chuan this weekend and it hit the spot. The food was delivered relatively quickly and met our spice preferences. For appetizers we got the Spring Rolls and Crab Rangoon. Both of which were very crispy and tasty. For mains, we got the Dry Chili Chicken, fried rice, and spicy chow mein noodles. The Chicken was flavorful and crispy, the fried rice was super tasty, the noodles were very tasty, but a bit dry. I believe they were fried so that might be why. I ordered online and was only able to order veggie fried rice but was hoping to have chicken. Overall, it was quite good and I would definitely order from here again.

Lemon shrimp and basil chicken are my absolute favorites! Every dish I’ve tried from here has always been top notch. 10/10

I placed my first order at Lao Sze Chuan last night. We ordered the food for carry out. Previously, we tried several other Chinese restaurants around the suburbs and we were disappointed with the quality of food. This was not the case here! Lao Sze Chuan impressed us. The food was cooked exactly as we asked for in the online order. We wanted the chicken well done and spicy; they did a perfect job making our Kung Pao chicken and spicy fried rice. It was 5/5 delicious. We also had Wonton soup and it was excellent as well. My family and I have a new go-to Chinese restaurant! The inside of the restaurant looked clean and cozy. Perhaps we will dine-in sometime.

I ordered food, but I unfortunately had a medical emergency and was not there when the food was delivered. I feel badly for the driver for wasting their time, but I also don't feel that I should have been charged for the order. I contacted the business the next day, and they said there would be a refund. At this point, I have seen no such thing. All I can say is, try not to have an asthma attack while ordering from here. They won't even leave your food at the door for when you get home, but they still charge you for it.

We have ordered delivery from here a few times and it's always delicious. Both the American Chinese style dishes as well as the more authentic ones. The special dry chili chicken is my favorite items but I haven't had one that has missed the mark yet. My wife loves the fried rice and the General Tao Chicken. You might think it's a little expensive but it's worth it.
