This was an unexpected find! Everything was delicious. We had the jerk chicken sandwich which had such a great flavor. Make sure you get all the toppings on the sandwich. The banana chips are super yummy along with the root chips and dip to start!

I was not ready for this - celebrating Mother-in-law birthday and she wanted to go here. Understated and small/quaint setting in a strip mall, wasn't expecting a whole lot. But I was clearly mistaken. One of the best Latino-styled meals I've had (and I've had dozens in many Latin countries!!!). The bacalao croquetas were excellent - 2 large golden brown served with a mango salad. My branzino fish was delicious - whole fish served with malanga-based gnocchi - (really?) - crazy good. The Ropa Vieja was incredible and the Pork chop was fantastic. And the portions are crazy huge!!! (something you just don't see in post-Covid restaurant experiences). Even my gin martini was excellent. Definitely plan on coming back. This is a diamond in the rough - and worth driving to even if you're not in the neighborhood....

El Buren is a restaurant that serves great Puerto Rican food and is often my go-to restaurant when planning a trip into Highwood for dinner. A basket of delicious Yucca chips is served at the beginning of the meal and are complimentary. Typical Puerto Rican side dishes to try are fried plantains (tostones), sweet pan sautéed plantains are also delicious (platanos maduras) and don't pass up the rice with pigeon peas (arroz con gandules) for a true Puerto Rican meal experience. Some of the entrees come with a choice of these side dishes. My husband is in love with the jerk chicken. Most of the portions are very large and you will have leftovers! Staff is accommodating and will make a skinny Mojito with less sugar. Give this wonderful restaurant a try!

The food is scrumptious! Celebrated my cousins birthday and the whole family was impressed with their meal selection and presentation. In addition, my brother finished his Mofongo with steak- it was impressive to finish the dish with the amount of food that they serve. Will continue to dine here and will also invite other family members to enjoy the beautiful presentations and delicious food at a hole different level. Very proud that Chef Angel represents not just Puerto Rico but the whole Caribbean Cuisine.

This was our first visit. We have been looking for a good place to get jerk chicken. This is it !! The jerk is just like we were in Jamaica. I had the skirt steak and it was delicious. The black and pink beans were so yummy!!We will be back for sure!! We are outside and it was a beautiful evening. The service was spot on too.

This place is amazing! The food is fresh and outstanding. The service is fantastic. My husband had the Can Can, it was so tasty and could have fed 3 of us. I had the trifongo and it was absolutely delicious. My son had the red snapper with a coconut based sauce and he absolutely loved it. Will keep coming back!!
