This place was absolutely fantastic. Both the ribs and barbecue chicken were completely juicy and tender - - unlike a number of places that I have visited post-pandemic. They have not reduced their quality. All of the ingredients are fresh and not overly sweet. I love the coleslaw, the fries, and the mac & cheese and I'm honestly not generally fans of any of the above-but this place delivered on all fronts. We even tried both types of pie they have and were not disappointed. Brian's great too--nice to see someone passionate about quality.

Ribs and chicken tenders where cold. Ribs were dried out and not tender at all. Cole slaw was warm and soupy. First time and last time going to papa willie's . 1 stars. William

Absolutely amazing flavors and cuisine. I even went back for seconds. Coming here was totally worth the trip. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to locals and outsiders alike. Brian, the owner lives up to his charismatic character as displayed on Hells Kitchen, and it was an absolute pleasure too meet him in person. Definitely my new favorite eatery on the North Shore

I first tried Papa Willie's in 11/2019 and I found the experience lacking in some ways in my estimation which I noted in a review at that time and I planned on coming back because the ribs were tasty. With the lockdown I didn't make it back until today. I had a half-slab of the BBQ ribs, the special cornbread with grain-fed corn or whatever it was, onion rings, an ear of corn and the slaw. Everything was magnificent, save for the slaw. Just my humble opinion. The base just didn't have any flavor, to me. Perhaps that was on account of the flavor of everything else was off the charts goood. The style of cooking the ribs is unique. The flavor is great. This time around the rib temperature was great, the size of the ribs were awesome without being too fatty. Really tasty fight off the bone bones. The cornbread was really good as well. The corn-on-the-cob was super succulent and had a great flavor. Among the tops I've ever had. And this time they had napkins! Highly recommend this place. In the unlikely event you find it Is not to your liking give it another try. Talk to them and tell them what you think. Great Ribs. I wish they served breakfast but you can't always get what you want.

I tried papa willie's for the first time today and I must say I was impressed. I decided to order their chicken tenders and Mac & cheese because if they are able to not mess that up then the rest of the food might be good. I honestly enjoyed the chicken tenders they were nicely fried and not too salty. The Mac and cheese was also good not too salty. Only thing I didn't really like is the portion size I wish it could have been 6 tenders instead of 4 but that's probably for the best shouldn't be eating too much. Service is also good the guy at the front greeted me and Asked me if I had been there before which is a plus in my customer service book . Might go back to try the ribs because the barbecue sauce was pretty tasty. Only downside is that they have cornbread on the weekends only why not all week. I have been trying out restaurants since I moved Into the area from the city and papa willie's in on my list restaurants I recommend.

I ordered the Thanksgiving “All Done” package and it did not disappoint! My entire family enjoyed the meal (which heated up very nicely) and my mom said it was the best Thanksgiving dinner she’s ever had- and she was the one in charge of cooking for so many years. ? My son had a third helping of everything and there really wasn’t much leftover. I will absolutely order this again and I look forward to the next holiday menu!

If you’ve passed by the crisply painted, friendly little black and white storefront in in Highwood, but you haven’t tried the food yet, this is a public service announcement: pull into the parking lot and grab some deliciousness! It’s the best barbecue place in town, perhaps in Lake County. Yeah, I said it. The chef/owner (a tremendous dude with a good vibe) begins with high quality ingredients and riffs from there with great flavors, solid and consistent cooking techniques, and thoughtful packaging - ribs are served in a bag, so no messy or slippery tearing-the-flesh-off a rack of bones like at Medieval Times; the possum pie is presented in a sweet little glass jar. Is your mouth watering now? If you’re down for lunch, dinner or even a specialevent that needs catering, and you want the food to feels like it was cooked with the secret ingredient (LOVE), I am recommending Papa Willie’s without hesitation.

The best chicken sandwich I've ever had. I truly enjoyed every bite of the sandwich. Liked how this place specializes in the 10 menu items they have. Very happy to find this place on my drive home. The gentlemen in the front (the main man)...shared his sandwich philosophy with me...I knew right away I walked into the right place.
