I love that they have conchas both with or without canela in the bread. With canela are my favorite! The tamales (red pork) used to be my favorite in town but not sure if something subtle changed or I ate them so much that I think that they went to great to good now. Either way, they are still worth a try, if you haven't yet.
I've been lately purchasing tamales from this place and each time I ask for the Chicken Verde tamales, they totally give me something else. For example, this last purchase, I asked for a dozen of Chicken Salsa Verde tamales and I got 4 different ones, even though I saw her take it out of the same pot. I got rojo, Verde, cheese/jalapeno and one with some kind of a leaf. What if someone has an allergy to something and they get their order mixed up. I like to know what I am...
Always a pleasant experience. I recommend the sandwiches and tamales and baked goods. I frequent the Melrose Park location but I was near the Cermak location and that location is just as good.
