They take the “ish” in their 2ish close time seriously, which I respect, so don’t arrive last minute. If it’s slow, they wrap up closer to 1:30. The food and service are always top notch. The donut holes are magically soft and flavorful (so they often are out before 1pm). A medium fried egg is perfectly medium. The deli sandwich combo is generously filled. The freshly squeezed orange juice is from actual orange that are squeezed there.
We were looking forward to eating at Eggshells. I checked the hours on Google maps which said they closed at 2 pm. We arrived at 1:25 and was told the kitchen was closed & they were just closing up. The person gave no apologies. The standing sign outside clearly stated they were open until 2:00! After this incident I am reluctant to go back. My pet peeve is small businesses that can close early when they feel like it.
Egg Shells Restaurant is a favorite breakfast spot with delicious food and generous portions. The menu features tasty plates like breakfast quesadillas, savory sausage patties and eggs, chilaquiles, the sunrise burrito, and excellent fluffy omelets. Their donuts and magically soft donut holes are freshly made on site. The freshly squeezed orange juice comes from actual oranges squeezed there. Other noted items include a perfectly cooked medium fried egg, a generously filled deli sandwich combo, and Intelligentsia coffee.
The service is consistently described as top notch, with friendly, helpful, and welcoming staff. The food is always delicious, priced fairly, and represents a good value. Many customers are regulars who visit once or more a week.
A note on hours: the restaurant closes around 2pm, but they take this seriously and may wrap up earlier if slow, so arriving well before close is advised. While most experiences are highly positive, some frustration has been noted when the kitchen closes before the stated time. Overall, Egg Shells Restaurant is a highly recommended destination for a flavorful and satisfying breakfast.
