Excellent! We came early on a Saturday evening and sat at the bar. Our bartender Frank was incredibly attentive and recommended some great cocktails as well as entrees. Such a great atmosphere at the bar and the interior aesthetic was also inviting. Great experience!

I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend and his siblings and was quite disappointed. The waiter (I don’t know his name) that served us was grumpy the whole time. Food was average. I ordered their wagyu steak, rigatoni alla vodka (pasta) and proper caesar salad. The steak didn’t meet my expectations at all - very salty (I like salty food, but it was too much), not tender, a few parts I couldn’t chew at all, so I had to spit it out in front of everyone. This steak definitely wasn’t worth $80. And the salad that comes with it was very sour. The pasta and caesar salad were fine. The salad could be cut smaller, very large pieces so it was awkward to eat. My boyfriend and his siblings liked their steaks (heritage new york strip), bluefin tuna, truffled purses (pasta). I’m not sure about the rest of their orders. I tried fresh mozzarella and it was great (a bit too much pepper though to my taste). I appreciated the delicious “real” tomatoes they use. The place looks good, no complaints. Quite pricey.

My husband and I went to Lago for our 15th wedding anniversary. From the moment we walked in the door, it was AMAZING. Our server was Lexi. She greeted us with a smile and a “Happy Anniversary” card that was signed by the entire staff! She was fun, knowledgeable and attentive (not hovering). The food was simply wonderful, from appetizers to dessert. We will most definitely be back!!

For our main courses, we had three steaks and a fish entrée, and each was cooked beautifully and tasted delicious. The quality of the food and the skill in its preparation were evident in every bite.

I am really picky when it comes to the restaurant , but there is no way for me not to share the experience . We came Monday at 9:05 to celebrate anniversary I guess what , kitchen is closing at 9:10 pm however they took our order and brought it in 10 minutes can you imagine , Pasta , shrimps , octopus . I have’t seen for a while placed that will have amazing atmosfere , great customer service and food that is melting with every bite .

Our server, Lexi, was absolutely fantastic—warm, attentive, and so knowledgeable about the menu. She made us feel welcomed and taken care of without ever rushing us. The manager, Andrew, also came by our table to check in, and his genuine hospitality left such a positive impression. It’s rare to find a team that works so seamlessly to create such a memorable dining experience.
For food and drinks, we started with the bruschetta, which was fresh and bursting with flavor, and the Berry Cherry Spritz, which was refreshing and perfectly balanced. For our main courses, the 10 oz filet mignon was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The sides of street corn and mac and cheese were rich, comforting, and paired beautifully with the steak. Every bite felt thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious.
To top it all off, Lago surprised us with complimentary cannolis for our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch.
From the impressive service to the outstanding food and perfectly crafted drinks, our experience at Lago was nothing short of five stars. We left feeling not only satisfied but genuinely cared for. We will absolutely be returning and will recommend Lago to all of our friends and family.

Lago in Lake Zurich is such a gem! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a great bar area that feels lively yet comfortable, and cozy booth seating that makes dining both relaxed and intimate. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a casual evening or celebrate a special occasion and feel equally at home.
We shared a few appetizers and every dish was excellent. The grilled octopus was tender and flavorful, the ricotta bruschetta was fresh and creamy, and the Lago salad was my absolute favorite — light, crisp, and perfectly balanced. Everything was beautifully prepared and full of flavor.
On top of that, the service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing, which really added to the experience. Between the welcoming vibe, great menu, and thoughtful staff, Lago is definitely a restaurant I’ll be returning to and recommending often!
