Very bad service .Not telling there is No sashimi , nigiri order after seated. No one ever care to refill your water or tea. Stay away !

I had not been here since it was Renga-Tei. The food, service, and atmosphere were as good as I remember. I was with my sister and mom, and we all enjoyed our food. The noise level was extremely low, which made it possible to have a conversation without shouting.

This is truly authentic Japanese cuisine set in a lovely and quiet storefront. It is wonderful!

Great as always! My daughter has a lot of food allergies and we feel very safe eating here!

A family favorite. It's our go-to spot for gatherings. The bento combos satisfies cravings for favorite dishes. Fresh fish with great daily specials. Wait staff are all cordial, prompt, and efficient. I love eating here.

We had tempura moriawase, steak & a combo bento of salmon/tempura/chicken teriyaki. All delicious. Coffee jello for dessert was excellent. Our server Nina is always great.

Large selection to choose from. We had sushi and sashimi which was very fresh and the grilled squid was great. Will definitely return to try the rest of the menu.

Great place! Amazing sushi. Everything from the kitchen was done perfectly with a very welcoming flavor. Sake list was short but all top quality. And there is parking. Stop reading reviews and go here.

The sushi here is incredibly fresh and the service was attentive throughout our meal. Highly recommended!

It was great. Even before when they were still Renga-Tei, their service and food are great. The only thing is that I hope they give the option for customers to have the dark meat of the chicken and steak.

Tenjin's specials (on top of the very extensive menu) continue to impress. It's hard to improve on a stalwart classic Japanese restaurant but the inventiveness of specials makes this updated family owned place terrific. Thanks Tenjin for not destroying the old Renga-Tei but making it better.

Renga Tei was one of my favorite places in the Chicago area and the new owners have maintained just about everything I loved and have even elevated the menu. Me and my partner did the pre fixe menu and it was spectacular and an amazing value as well! Truly blown away by each and every course. Thank you Tenjin!

Came here for dinner tonight (Saturday)

Can I just say, this place is fabulous, great food, ambiance and service was so charming and amazing value for the food items themselves. So excited to come back here.

If available I highly recommend the prefix if you have trouble choosing like we do, it was an amazing value and pairing.

This was our first visit we had never been from the previous owners either. Food was excellent. We waited quite a while at the door till somebody decided to come over and asked us if we had a reservation. We were seated at a booth. Very nice. Our server had zero personality. It really wasn't a ding against him but he needs to try to be more social to his guests. Everything was delicious. The only thing I noticed very different from any other sukiyaki. I have ordered which happens to be my favorite dish was here. They served with udon noodles and most often it's served with a very thin, clear, cellophane noodles. It was good. But I prefer the traditional clear cellophane noodles. The shrimp tempura was outstanding . Tuna poke was wonderful the tuna steak was very good. They were a little pricey, and their glasses of wine $14. The bottle was 54 that was a little pricey. Also, next time I might opt for a corkage fee and bring my own wine. We will definitely be back.
