About The Hope and Anchor English Pub

The Hope and Anchor English Pub is a popular weekly destination, known for its hearty food that goes beyond typical bar fare. The Fish and Chips and Pulled Pork Poutine are favorites, with large portions that are worth the moderate prices. The atmosphere is charming and Old English, usually calm and quiet, making it a cozy spot for both regulars and newcomers. The pub hosts comedy nights with a $10 cover charge added to the bill and offers a fun ambiance with seating near life-sized cutouts of famous British figures. Recent reviews mention the fantastic service, with friendly staff who meet needs without interrupting entertainment. Visitors praise the pub’s authentic Curry and Bangers and Mash, although some have found the sausages disappointingly small. The beer is good, and the specials for the night often have a nice fall theme. Guests appreciate the cozy setting, including a chess set next to a large fireplace. Overall, the pub remains a welcoming place with good food, a lively yet relaxed environment, and plenty of British charm.

Proper fish and chips, cottage pie, pan seared salmon, chicken and leek pie -- all were delicious! Crispy fried ribs are an amazing appetizer, the meat just about falling right off the bone. Desserts including Guinness cheesecake are delectable. English beer selections include greats such as Old Speckled Hen and Samuel Smiths brews as well. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Superlatives for Emily and Marcia! Love this 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 pub!

Because your prices have gotten so out of hand! It is excellent fish but in the end it's just cod and that is not an expensive fish at all. Paying over $20 for a single piece of fish, fries and slaw is ridiculous. I mean you're not serving salmon or grouper or other more expensive fish. I don't like feeling as though I am being ripped off. My fiancee is newly retired and I am disabled and therefore on disability so paying over $20 for a piece of fish, slaw and fries is ridiculous.

Prices too high. Used to have a great Friday fish fry. New levels are ridiculous.
