“TLDR: This is one of our current favorite campgrounds, and has become an annual visit that we look forward to every year.

Pretty sure this was our 8th consecutive year camping at Lincoln Trail State Park. Aside from our very first visit, we have always stayed on the Lakeside loop, and always at the end overlooking the lake. This has become an annual trip with our friends from Indianapolis (it's about the half way point between us), and has steadily grown to 4 or 5 families each year. We almost always stay here after Labor Day, so the campground is never busy.

The park is well maintained. The paved road around the lake makes for a nice car or bike ride (if you're up to it!), there are multiple well-maintained hiking trails, and the lake itself is awesome to take a canoe ride on (we always bring one). Water is available at the dump station on the way in, and also spread throughout the campground. The dump station itself has two lanes, non-potable water for cleanout, and this trip they even had sewer hoses connected & ready to go.

The Lakeside campground has only pit toilets, but Plainview has a nice bathroom/shower house. Hosts area always friendly, and leave you alone unless you need something. The wooden stairs and railings around many of the sites are showing their age, but you can see new repairs throughout as they keep them maintained. The gravel sites (at least on Lakeside) are a blessing and a curse; they're mostly level, dry, and comfortable walking, but you'll be sweeping it out of your camper or tent all weekend! There is a small playground in the Lakeside area, and I believe a slightly larger one and basketball court in Plainview.

As of this review (2025), the restaurant & bait shop are no longer open. You are still able to fish, but make sure your license is up to date as we have been checked by Conservation Police (this is a positive thing in my opinion).”

“I got married at castle Finn yesterday!! We did the micro-wedding package and it was absolutely perfect.
Sonya, the owner, was wonderful throughout the whole process. She was very easy to communicate with, quick to answer questions, honest and honorable to our contract - with some accommodations simply because she understood how important the wedding day was for us. Couldn’t have asked for a better host/vendor.”

“Ended up here with friends on whim for a weekend dart tournament and had an absolute blast. Everyone was super friendly, the prices were awesome & honestly way cheaper than I'm honestly used to...which is always great! They had a $10 lunch special pulled pork w/ Mac& cheese -everyone said it great...but I went with the pizza! I was told it was the amazing, so of course I had to try it out & it definitely did not disappoint. ~ I highly recommend this little dive bar w/an attached Party Barn for entertainment. Very cool little place.”

“We love this quaint place located on Main St. It is a very roomy restaurant for a nice size buffet!! Not usually very busy, and sometimes can lead to the food not being as fresh. Regardless, we enjoy the staff, they are the sweetest!! If you call ahead for dumplings, they will have them ready when you get there fresh and maybe add a few complimentary ones to your order 😉 Very very clean!!!”

“Overall a great experience ordering here. Food seemed fresh and prepped daily. Speed of service was on par and quality of packing for the road as an OTR driver is super important and they really brought it home here. I wasn't sure if they would just throw everything into a tray or actually stack the items. Each burrito is well packed and easy to eat while working.”

“last place open for the night besides usual truck stop limited, unhealthy options. So glad I ordered shrimp & noodles the sauce is amazing, a few shrimps, good size, cooked just right. Finish with garlic bread piping hot, wash down with unsweetened ice tea. Can go to bed with a full belly. Thanks for being open till 9 PM on a random tuesday ;-)”

Also, the lady that was working was sooo nice and helpful!! 100% recommend this place if you're looking for great service and great coffee!🩷”

“This store is great, all of the staff are friendly and helpful. All of the negative reviews from a month ago should probably be taken with a grain of salt, as this location only opened a month ago, and the whole crew is basically brand new and still learning as well.”
