“I recommend avoiding the place if you or a family member has an allergy. New manager is the old manager that ran it before it closeed last time. My potatoes were so over spiced that I couldn't eat them. I sent them back. I was then told, that " I could take them with me, or throw them away." They refused to address me directly, instead berating my girlfriend for previously returning food when allergy instructions had been ignored. Unacceptable. Unsafe.”

“We had the buffet. I am very selective when I order fried chicken at restaurants. I love fried chicken and The Villa has the best friend chicken I have ever eaten. Hats off to the person in charge of frying the chicken. I won't mention his name, but he is the best at fixing wonderful friend chicken. My only complaint is I wish the fried chicken was available every day. We will definitely be back many more times in the future.”

“We love living near Happy Donuts and walk there frequently for treats with the kids. However, today we were told that we couldn't have any Boba drinks because the manager was the only one who could make them and she was on a phone call? Left super disappointed and spent our Boba funds somewhere else. Just a weird experience that left me with sad kids.”

“Quiet, and comfortable. $18 for a fresh hot pizza and a pitcher of beer! Heck of a deal on a pizza-date. Really tasty choices made in a real pizza kitchen, cooked in a quick pizza oven at The Castle! Fresh new parking lot, and cold A/C on those hot nights!”

“We eat here very often the food is great. We did have a problem on Easter Sunday lunch. My husband ordered chicken on the beach and was half the size that it usually is. He orders this all of the time and always very good, very disappointing. I hope management will straighten this out with the cooks. My food was excellent!”

“Had the Elephant Ear Tenderloin and mushrooms. The tenderloin was thin and lacked seasoning. Must try the mushrooms!! Service was good. The daily special looked great along with many other items. Will visit again, but not for the tenderloin. Thank you”

“First time eating here. Such a treat to happen upon this wonderful establishment!! Our server, DAWN, is a jewel! As 1st timers she recommended the Family Pleaser Special meal for 2. Your choice of pizza and toppings, 2 drinks, 2 salads. AND the French salad dressing is home-made. Superb flavor. We even used it as dip for our pizza. We will be back next time we're traveling in the Mattoon area! Thank you Dawn for wonderful service and delicious meal.”

“Went in after a long day of work and wanted to keep it simple so I had sliders with red wine last night. First and foremost, Nadia was professional, personable, fast and efficient, just an excellent server! The pulled pork sliders were big and filling, and the Intercept red blend was great and actually paired perfectly with the pulled pork. I'll be sure to stop in at the Alamo anytime I'm back in the area for work.

Parking: Plenty of parking spaces throughout the dinner hour.”

“This is obviously a family establishment as the young lady that always runs the register is the smiling face that always greets me. It seems I have watched her son grow up in the restaurant. The food is always amazing, best in Coles County. The service is always friendly. The portions are huge! One order of Steak and Chicken hibachi will feed me three times! The inside of the building isn't anything to look at...”

“My wife picked up our food in the drive-thru, which took forever, even though they were not busy almost making her late to meet her son for lunch at school. Once she got to the school, we realized that they had completely made my sandwich wrong. Unfortunately, I did not have time to go back and fix it. So this is not our first bad experience here, which is unfortunate because a year ago, it was a great place. I'm not sure what changed.”

Larissa, Laura, Gabby, and the young man working with them made an inconvenient corporate policy with online ordering a pleasant experience. It is so nice to see great customer service still exists in a workforce that definitely lacks in that dept.”

“We didn't try the food, but they had great drinks. My goddaughter was somewhat disappointed. We were told they didn't carry what she wanted anymore. However, it was still listed on the menu.

I thought it was a place you could go in and sit down. It's a pick-up-and-go kind of place. It reminded me of being at a concession stand.”
