“A hidden little gem across eisenhower high-school it's a tiny nostalgic hole in the wall place and they made the space cute. I came with my husband the first time today for the morning of our wedding. The coffee was fresh, hot, and the right kind of strong. I asked for three cups lol. I got the eggs Benedict and the food didn't come out too quickly, cause if it does it is a sign the food may not be entirely made from scratch. But the chef a older Hispanic male was doing the cooking and you can see into his kitchen set up he makes everything from scratch and doesn't cut corners. My husband got the tacos. The eggs Benedict was honestly the best I had, he actually made scratch made hollandaise sauce and the egg a perfect poach, he even topped the Hollandaise with a whisper of nutmeg. And the hashbrowns and bacon were the perfect amount of crispy. My husband liked his tacos he said they were seasoned well and it came with homemade red and green salsa. My husband is picky and if he doesn't like something he won't take left overs home, but he took his home and ate them after the wedding cause he said it was tasty. I told the waitress that no joke this was the most delicious breakfast I had in a long time- cause it was! They close at 3 cause they are a breakfast and lunch spot but support thus local business cause they are a true hidden gem! Will definitely go back 😄“

“We went here for breakfast. The food was really good and cooked perfectly. They had so many options for breakfast and lunch. They have a variety turkey options for breakfast, bacon, sausage patties and links. The pancakes are really good with hot syrup. I had a veggie with avocado skillet with hash browns, it was hearty and delicious. My husband had scrambled eggs, hash browns, turkey sausage patties, and hash browns. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Small diner with great food, definitely worth the travel. It is a busy spot so there may be a wait for larger groups.

“I first discovered this restaurant about 10 years ago on a business trip. Since then, I’ve actually volunteered to go back to Chicago for work—just for a chance to eat here again. This place genuinely changed my opinion of what vegan food could be. It’s absolutely amazing. I even bought the cookbook and have tried to recreate the experience at home, but it’s just not the same. If you're vegan and in the area, you truly have to check this place out. Not only is the food fantastic, but the service is also exceptional—something that’s, unfortunately, not always common in vegan restaurants. In my experience, many vegan spots are run by people who are passionate about the lifestyle first and restaurant owners second, and that can lead to poor management. But The Chicago Diner is the best of both worlds: incredible vegan food and a well-run, welcoming restaurant. It’s truly impressive.“

“Food: I got a Gyro for the first time and it was good but was a lot of the same flavor, not much variance since the meat is all ground up. Probably just not for me personally. Pizza looked really good!
Service: the cashier we had was awesome and helped with recommendations for someone who has never been to Chicago or had Chicago food.
Atmosphere: loved the diner feel to the place!
Parking: Pretty small parking lot out front, fits maybe 10 cars.“
