“I was in University Village and craving Pakistani food. Unfortunately the restaurants on Devon Ave don't deliver here :(. However, a quick Google search brought this restaurant up! I'm glad I ordered here. I recommend the Khari Chicken, Butter Chicken, and Chicken 65 ?. By the time our garlic naan arrived, it was rock hard. I don't blame anyone- sometimes that happens. A big bonus was the zeera rice you get with every curry dish order! I love how generous the portions of rice were with every curry order! Will order again ????????“

“Service deserves 10 star. The waiter here is the nicest person ever. Really quick and precise service. Food is hands down one of the best. Halwa puri is, again, one of the best in town in my opinion. The place has TONS of options and everything I've tried so far has been a hit. It's a bit far from the typical Desi restaurants but it's worth it. Parking is kind of tight though. They also have a Desi grocery store attached which is convenient if you need to grab something.“

“Stopped by Khan B.B.Q. for lunch—spent about $20 on a chicken boti platter with naan and daal fry. The chicken boti was juicy and flavorful, cooked to perfection in the tandoor. The naan was fresh and soft, perfect for scooping up the rich daal fry. The place has a no-frills vibe, but the food speaks for itself. Service was quick, and the staff was friendly. Definitely a solid spot for authentic Pakistani barbecue.“

“Tabaq Restaurant near downtown Chicago is hands-down one of the best spots for authentic South Asian cuisine. I recently dined there and was truly impressed with the quality and flavor of their food.
The fish was fresh, well-seasoned, and grilled to perfection—crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It had just the right amount of spice without overpowering the natural flavor.
The mandi was absolutely delicious. The rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked, and the way it was served with tender meat (and sometimes fish!) made it a hearty, satisfying dish. It’s clear they know how to get the flavors just right.
But the highlight for me was the mutton khorma—rich, creamy, and full of deep, complex spice. The mutton was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork, and the gravy was perfect with naan or even just by itself.
Overall, amazing food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!“

“Absolutely phenomenal south Indian food. We came in to dine in but had to get it to-go due to an emergency. The staff was super accommodating and the Veg Thali (sampler platter) was absolutely divine. My friends got the Mutton Thali and Chicken Thali and said it is some of the best food they've had in Chicago. Spice level is definitely on the hotter side of restaurants I've been to but that made for a great meal. Incredibly affordable too. At ~$15 per person and plenty of tasty leftovers that keep well, I'll definitely be making a point to return soon.“

“Tucked away from the main street in Devon is this humble place for some fantastic North Indian cuisine. Great authentic taste !!Had both the tandoori chicken and the chicken along with garlic naan and plain parathas and everything was delicious - Everything served hot and fresh. The tandoori chicken is made after ordering so will take approx 30 mins to be served but it’s worth the wait. The only thing that stuck out as an anomaly is the chicken looks more reddish than regular meat. It could be likely due to the red chilly spice used or maybe a little bit of food coloring ( not sure ).
This not a fine dine but a regular walk in restaurant with limited seating so pls set expectations accordingly. If you are a lover of Indian cuisine, highly recommend checking this out.“

My favorite was the biryani but it’s a hard choice between the other amazing dishes. It’s a must try restaurant and a great experience for group outings. The staff was extremely kind and accommodating with our specific requests. Overall great food and service, will definitely go again!“

“Authentic taste, great portioning, clean, and simple. I had tasted such good Desi food only back home on grand occasions like weddings etc. This guy is simply magical. I tried Tala gosht, allo Qeema, and Aaloo Palak.... everything was awesome. And he has a good list of vegi choices too. Definitely going back.“

“Stopped by Tahoora for breakfast—spent about $12 on halwa puri with aloo and chole. The puris were crispy and golden, and the halwa had that perfect sweetness. The aloo and chole were flavorful, though I would've liked a bit more spice. The place was bustling, but the staff was friendly. It's a solid spot for a traditional Indian breakfast. Just be aware that they don't serve halwa puri every day, so it's best to check ahead.“
