Amazing food! Very fresh and natural, waiters are very funny and kind, definitely worth the 45 minute drive. Their beef ribs and their tofu seafood soup is on top. Best asian restaurant I’ve ever been to. Hoping they locate to a bigger restaurant their potential is high.

I’ve been here a few times before. The food is hit or miss — some days it’s decent, other days the seasoning is just bad. But last night was absolutely the final straw for me and my friends.
It felt like the staff only cared about taking our money, not serving customers. The customer service was rude and rushed from the moment our food came out.
We had been eating for less than 30 minutes since the food was served, and we had not even finished our meal, yet they were already trying to push us out. We were basically forced to leave and walked out at 8:03 PM because of how aggressively they rushed us.
If you don’t want to accept customers at that time, then don’t seat them in the first place. Don’t take people’s money and then deny them the chance to finish their meal.
Very poor service and extremely disappointing experience. Will not be coming back, and I do not recommend this place to anyone.

One of our favorite places around for comfort Korean food. We always get the tofu stew and it is the best around. Layers of flavor and warms the soul. If you eat there, the stew comes out boiling hot and you get to crack an egg into it. What a treat. Give it a try!

Great spot for a nice korean traditional silk tofu soup. Very customizable with protein and styles as well as spice level and even what type of grain of rice you want. Would recommend for the cold winter.

Update: they have a new menu item, grilled intestines, which is so well seasoned and flavorful that I ate like 2 extra bowls of rice with it alone. Even if you’ve never tried intestines or are hesitant, you should 100% give it a try! The kimchi dumplings alone are worth the visit but everything on the menu is amazing! The galbi tang is a new menu item - someone told me it’s the best in Chicago and they were right. Amazing staff, great atmosphere!

Great authentic place. As soon as I walked in and was the only white dude in the place with everyone speaking Hongul, I knew it was going to be good. Went there twice on a business trip and got the dolsot bibimbap (they call it something different) and the bulgogi. Great both times. The gochujang sauce is the best I've had.

I’m so glad that we found this place! We came to Chicago from Ohio to spend our long weekend and this is easily one of the best meals we had during our time here. It’s not located in the city so requires a bit of a drive but is so worth it. I love the homey atmosphere and the welcoming staff. The food tasted like mom’s cooking, warm, satisfying, made with care and love, and so so delicious.
We ordered a summer special - spicy cold noodles. I’ve never had this dish before but wanted to try due to how hot and humid it was the day we went. This dish was amazing. The spiciness and coldness was refreshing and got our appetite going right away. The noodles was cooked to perfection, chewy and full of flavors. The cucumber, egg, and beef slice, although simple, added a nice touch and so much flavor and texture. This whole dish came together so beautifully. If we come back in the summer next time, I also want to try the regular cold noodles and soy milk noodles. Everything looked so good!
We also ordered a seafood and beef tofu pot with white rice. I personally loved the rice and the brown crispy bits near the bottom of the pot. So thankful for the lady that came and shared with us how the rice should be enjoyed! I also loved how tender and soft the tofu in the hot pot is. Everything was so flavorful and the warming, and getting to add the egg to our own pot was amazing and added so much flavor.
I also wanted to say how awesome the side dishes are! It’s refillable and every single dish was so amazing. I’m thankful for the young lady that offered us cucumber, that, the fish cake, the bean sprouts and the radishes are my favorites.
I’ve never been to Korea but lived in Taiwan for a long time. There are plenty of nice Korean styled restaurants there, but I struggled to find delicious Korean places in Ohio after moving to the states. I’m so happy I found this place. We will definitely be back for more the next time we visit Chicago. Thank you for having us and feeding us such good food:)

A true hidden gem! Chodang has some of the most excellent Korean food in the Chicago suburbs. Most of their menu is soondubujjigae, a stew with tofu and other ingredients of your choice, which you can also customize how spicy you want it. They do have a few other things on the menu such as bulgogi, but the vast majority of people go for the soondubu. The staff is so kind as well, and it's really a local gem, very casual place. Perfect for the cold winter months especially!
