This is our daughter's favorite Chinese restaurant for takeout in Mundelein. We ordered a variety of dishes for a group of 7, including my favorite soup, Hot and Sour ($5.69 for large). Beware, it WAS spicy hot but tasty too! I ordered Chicken with Mushrooms ($12.29 for large) while my wife chose Mongolian Beef ($13.39). Both dishes were tasty, not too spicy, and contained a variety of vegetables besides a reasonable amount of meat. I didn't notice any excess salt or MSG. I should mention that the young man at the pickup counter was very courteous and helpful.The menu is extensive, and prices are about average for this type of experience. I think that their cuisine is superior to what is available in the Glenview area where we live.

If you want a quick, cheap, Asian fix, from a kind family-owned restaurant, this might satisfy your hunger. Just know the food quality (especially the meat) is low. Got the beef with vegetables, reminded me of "Chifa" a bit. Sauce tasted good. Meat was rubbery. Fried rice was good. Egg rolls were crisp. Soup had a strange gelatinous texture.As much as I loved the service, I'm not sure I'll go back.

Very tasty! Right now this is my top Chinese restaurant in the area. Great tasting chicken and veggies.Plus as an added bonus the fried rice had that smokey flavor! Fire makes it good!

Born and raised in Chicago’s Chinatown area and now moving up to the suburbs I have been craving and missing the classical Chinese restaurant flavors. Yesterday I ordered General Tso Chicken and and Pork Lo Mein from this lovely mom and pop shop and the food was delicious! It definitely gave me déjà vu to the classical Chinatown flavors. Some of the Chinese restaurants around the suburbs westernize the flavors too much but this restaurant stayed true to their roots. We did get the lunch specials so it was approximately $20 for two full meals and two Coca Colas. For that money you get a variety of protein, carbs and vegetables. Will definitely be ordering from here again!
Just not my level of visual cleanliness and organization. Food was decent. I did carry-out. Service was fine.

Got lunch for takeout from this crummy looking Chinese place in Mundelein. It sure looked like crap, but it was better than we thought it would be though. Dragon Star has all the usual stuff that's Americanized Chinese. Has big portions, which is a good thing about it. The prices aren't bad especially on the lunch specials. Came in at lunch and placed an order to go. It's one of those places you go in and order at a window, and then sit and wait for it. The atmosphere is pretty lame to be honest, with not much going on. About the worst thing that can be said about it. The best thing is the cheap prices. It's about $10 for the regular size entrees. They also have lunch specials. Has vegetarian choices. I got the General Tso's Tofu. Good spice to it. The tofu was firm, and there was a good variety of vegetables including broccoli, carrots, and others. For lunch takeout it's pretty good. It's pretty fast to get most orders. There's a variety of proteins to choose from including tofu for vegetarians.

Normally, I am very happy with their orange Chicken. The flavor is excellent. This time the flavor was great but the quality of the “white” chicken as advertised was terrible. It was all dark meat and a lot of breading. I will give it one more chance in hopes you see this and fix it. Please! I want to keep supporting local businesses. You need to step up your game.
