Not a friendly atmosphere. My dad was paying for the meal and the door was locked due to them assuming we were going to walk out? They profiled us. It’s illegal to lock restaurant doors from the inside due to emergencies like fire hazard. Owner needs a talk to their staff. Won’t be back and will discourage anyone that thinks about going here.

Sept 2025- was not as good today. Most of my families fajitas were burned. Not steaming when they came out though. It was weird. Was told they didn't have mild salsa. When usually they just give my mom red sauce as mild instead of salsa. My El Jalisgo Special was more dry then usual. Very very salty. Mushrooms were ok but over cooked and not worth 2.99 extra. Dude at the register kept resting his head down bent over. Like he was really tired. Not sure we will be back. And we have been going when we are in town visiting, since it opened. Very sad to say. Plus where did all of the women servers go? March 2025- El Jalisco Special never disappoints..AAA++ I had mushrooms added.

They say it's the best Mexican restaurant in town and they seriously mean it. If I could rate 10 stars I would. This place is my go to in Southern Illinois for good fajitas and burritos, I highly recommend a madello or a margarita with your meal as well. The food is amazing the service is fast and reliable and they always make you feel at home.

Consistently great food, thoughtful service from the staff, and a nice place to eat and catch a good cross section of Murphysboro folks. I have a handful of restaurants I love for Mexican cuisine and El Jalisco is in my top 3!
