The food was delicious and the ambience was great. We sat at the bar since we didn't have a reservation and it was a Saturday night. The staff was attentive and checked in with us regularly.
Incredible, thoughtful flavors at a reasonable price. We enjoyed new American dishes that we didn’t expect to be good, end up being GREAT - shrimp and grits that matched the south. Rabbit stew that was rich and flavorful, a solid burger and risotto that was perfectly cooked. Service was solid although a bit busy for one server, and drink selection large. It felt like we were having a solid meal in the city, but Allegory snuck out and took a seat in Naperville of all places....
Allegory has a great atmosphere and an inviting space. We really enjoyed most of the food, especially the blackened shrimp and grits and the flat iron steak, both of which were excellent.
The only miss was the chilaquiles, which were a bit dry and didn’t feel very authentic. Since it’s a new spot, that’s understandable, and there’s a lot of potential here. We’re looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu.
