Cajun Boil & Bar - Oak Park

Called at 5:54 in an order for house sauce and noodles- that’s it. Arrived 40 minutes later to an empty restaurant that smelled like a basement and the order not ready. I was informed that they did not make the order until you come inside and pay for it. That was never disclosed over the phone and defeats the purpose of calling your order in ahead. I walked out with no order and a commitment to never come back.

Ordered pick-up and it was a very delicious blend of flavors with a good selection of crab and shrimp!

Quick service. Ample quantity. Value for the price. We tried their hangry size with 3 sea food options with corn and sausage. It also came with potatoes. We got their fried shrimp which came with fries. And side of garlic bread.

They charge 17% tip irrespective and have 90 minute seating.

Jocelyn was our server and she was great the whole time. She explained different items as it was our first time there. She checked in on us a good amount.
The food was good! I had the shrimp noodles and snow crab. I will be coming back!

I’m really big on customer service and this place dropped the ball. Idk why Bri was the only server for a Party of 20, so I won’t press her too hard.

But the host/bartender, he got the game messed up. I will omit the interaction on how I learned that he was the bartender, especially after he watched me sit at the bar and waited for the bartender. In my experience,most bartenders are behind the bar. Silly me for not knowing his role. Though I’m very fluent in sarcasm, that should never be apart of anyone’s job.
Though I was dining in I was forced to wait in the carryout line to place to go order.(🙄Fine. Not trippin.) I wanted some “seafood fried rice”. Now I understand that’s not how it’s labeled on the menu, but I don’t work here. It’s not my job to know the menu.
He replies and says, “Well, which fried rice?”
From my surprise I say, “Oh, it’s more than one fried rice?”
He responded, “If it wasn’t more than one, I wouldn’t ask what I just asked.”
So I say, “If I knew it was more than one I wouldn’t have responded the way I responded.”

That turned me off I didn’t wanna spend any more money at this place, so I didn’t order the rice and I’m never going there again. I hope your experience is better than mine, for real. Because he almost got cussed out. #growth

I literally will spend top dollar for food, but I expect the customer service to be top tier. Cajun Boil’s sarcasm and dismissiveness is unacceptable. I will never go back. It’s a 1000 other seafood boil places in Chicago, including my kitchen. 🤣

Dry rub chicken wings we’re good. My pick three Holla bag was OK.
