One of the coolest and most exquisite restaurants I have been in Illinois! It is a true gem!
They have a huge variety of special tequilas and mezcal. The cocktail menu is super creative and the food is spectacular.
I had the smoked trout pancakes and they were outstanding, as well as the burger and liver. The ambience is super cool and the service is top notch. Will definitely go back!!

Took a road trip for a day to Starve Rock National Park; while in the area I was craving a good bloody mary. Decided to check out a local business. We found Año Del Gallo, a speak easy dive bar with a lot of tequila & mezcal options (I would say the best I ever seen, tequila straight from Mexico.)

My friend and I ordered a bloody mary, which is home made mix and I would say it’s a perfect kick of spicy, and was delicious! As for food, we had the Ora king salmon; Rich in flavor, cooked perfectly and juicy. We also had the Special toast (French toast) I would say is the best I ever had, perfect texture, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and a touch of the almond crumble. If I could, I would give you more then 5 stars. Highly recommended!!

Amazing experience!

So fun! It looks like a dive bar but definitely is not. A huge selection of tequila and excellent margaritas. We didn't stay for dinner but had some szechuan style chicken wings that were great. They made them with the Sichuan pepper that slightly numbs your lips. Check it out if you are at starved rock and are thirsty after a hike.

This place is a rare find- you’d never expect it driving by. We’ve been twice and have been impressed both times. Sit at the bar and try whatever they’re making- you can’t go wrong. It’s a super casual vibe with food worthy of a much fancier restaurant.

Been many places. This one’s the best for the 815. Pancakes are fire. I never leave reviews so come here. It’s dope. They don’t sacrifice quality for service and it shows. Deserving of city prices but they choose not to. Come support Año! They support you!!

IYKYK. The best food in the area, hands down. Always worth the trip—every time. The flavors will blow your mind!

A must-visit whenever we're near Starved Rock. Ben and the team are doing an amazing job and it shows!

Ate here today with a group of people, the entire hallway to bathrooms and bathrooms were covered in nudity pictures. Then comes the food, their menu for a dive bar in the middle of no where is odd. The prices were even more ridiculous. I paid $15 for 1 large slice of texas toast cut in half and smothered in 2 different sauces and mixed in the sauce was bacon chunks, mixed greens, grape tomatoes. This was their version of a bit. No fries no drink nothing else. For $15 dollars. Then their pancakes were very dense and flavorless with a side of trout eggs and a hug lump of butter for $18 dollars. Im sorry but the food and atmosphere did not mix and the prices for what you go were ridiculous. I am from Chicago and traveled many places.

The food here is outstanding 👌 Delectable fusion of flavors that are unpredictable, indescribable, and just leave you wanting to try another dish. Drinks are fantastic, too - don't skip one of their specialty cocktails. Music is spot-on - compliments the vibe and atmosphere here perfectly. Love this spot - do NOT drive by.

Went here and Liz and Lily did not disappoint! They're both excellent bartenders and the cherry on top is their knowledge and expertise when it comes to the products they sell. Lily made the best Mezcal Espresso martini I've ever had. Though I'm just visiting from the Chicago area, if I ever come back down this will definitely be a go to spot.
