Wandering through Illinois and found this gem. It was 1 p.m., but they offered a brunch like a buffet with breakfast, salad bar, and lunch items. We opted for the menu of gyro skillet, buckle buster burger, and avocado omelet. Everything was delicious, but the real star was our server, Cassidy. She had a difficult table next to us, but she handled it like a pro. The only downfall was the bathrooms. They need a clean and some TLC.

Fantastic meal. The recommendation was fantastic. Won’t disappoint. Big portions and everything is fresh and homemade. Wish I lived closer. We’re traveling from Minnesota The waitress was friendly and helpful in menu suggestions.

This is our favorite breakfast place in the area; we come here everytime we stay at the Grand Bear. We are especially pleased with the service given us by Shelly. She is exceptionally friendly and attentive. The breakfast food is very good.

First off it’s extremely COLD inside. It was hard to enjoy my meal. The food was good. But only a refill for the drink was offered after I was done eating & the check being placed on the table.

Wow! Fresh cooked food with more than I could eat and a very reasonable price. Dinners come with choice of soup or salad, choice of potato, vegetable of the day and a scoop of ice cream. Did I say that I was full before I finished my meal? Well I was! The food was very good and we would for sure come back again.

Updates.. The staff is no longer wearing masks. They close now at 8pm and not 9pm. We sat at about 735. We were kindly told after we ordered that we could not have what we wanted because it would take too long. Ok, that sucks but they close in 20 minutes..I get it. Plan B..my girl gets an Omlette vs Broiled Cod and I get the Gyros Pita. She liked her Omlette and they had 1 last glass of sweetened tea so shes good. Now the Gyros. I envisioned sliced onions, crumbled feta and some delicately sliced gyros meat off a spit with that oh so yummy tzatziki sauce. Ah, no, not here. The gyro meat was large pieces of over cooked, end of the night, dried out pieces of what could have been seasoned tofu. I know it wasnt but the point is, it was bad. It had cubed feta and diced red onions. Just not the same. Shoe string fries fresh and hot, were excellent. Tzatziki sauce was thick and not creamy or runny, excellent. The pita, was warm and fluffy, excellent. So you take a mouth full of FFries, smear the sauce on the pita, smear the mystery meat in sauce and stuff your mouth and then and only then, is this gyros half way decent. The deluxe comes with a cup of soup. Never got my cup of soup. ARRRG. So normally by now Im having a fit but its the end of the night, my girl liked her food, and I figured Id just leave a shitty review. But I bring my thoughts to one of the servers and they spring into action. My server apologized and absolutely owned it. They gave me a discount on my meal and reduced the check. Nice surprise and actually the first time any rest discounted my meal. At the end of the day and to be fair, the servers and front of the house are very friendly and were responsive. I think if I was there about an hour earlier my experience would have been diff. Tip: get there early enough to order something cooked to order and fresh. Look under the table before sitting. Our table had fries and crap underneath it. Order the cheesecake.

The locals might be crazy about it but I found the food to be just a little better than gas station Cafe quality. The chicken/ shells and clamps chowder soups both lacked seasoning and meat. The hot ham and cheese was oil rather than buttered which would greatly add to the flavor

Had the special- a fried pork chop, mash potatoes with brown gravy. Came with salad and green beans. It was incredible. In Germany it would’ve been schnitzel and this was better than most schnitzels I’ve had. Great friendly service to top it off.

I gave it a three because on a breakfast that had hash browns, eggs and sausage patties. The hash downs and onions were a little over done. The eggs ordered over easy were so hard they could bounce off the pavement and the sausage patties were overdone and dry. They corrected the eggs. The bright spot is the staff is very nice and personable. It is a little pricey for the food though.

I just recommended this place to my family. Everyone love what we've all ordered and it is very satisfying. And also, it is pet friendly as well! I definitely suggest this place to anyone, whether you're local or traveling to find some place to eat.
