Krekels is a restaurant located in the Western region of Central Illinois, known for its delicious burgers and kid-friendly atmosphere. One popular burger option is the #4 Special, a Triple Cheeseburger, featuring multiple beef patties, gooey cheese, grilled onions, and mayo, delivering a unique and bewildering flavor experience. Krekels is recognized for having one of the best smash burgers in the area, flavorful with a nice crisp texture, and made to order with a variety of toppings. The restaurant also offers crinkle-cut fries, praised for their perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft interior, resembling deep-fried clouds. Additionally, the onion rings and chicken fingers are highly recommended, always served hot and fresh. The atmosphere is laid-back, with friendly employees providing quick service. Despite reports of occasional order mix-ups and longer wait times compared to national chains, the staff works hard to provide a great dining experience. Krekels remains a great spot for families and burger enthusiasts alike, with a focus on delivering quality burgers in a busy, down-home setting.
