Wengs of pekin Reviews
Good buffet. DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY. They don’t do it in house and you won’t get the order for over an hour and it’s so cold it’s coagulated.
Any business that posts anti Trump propaganda will never again get my business.
Many of us locals have been supporting this business for a long time now and I believe the appreciation by the owner/s shows that with the low prices and superior food selection and quality all the way around. Wengs of Pekin, formerly known as Ming's, offers a buffet-style dining experience with a variety of Chinese dishes. The restaurant's interior remains the same, with buffet tables that provide a wide selection of food. Since the change in name, there have been noticeable improvements in the taste and freshness of the food, which now features more spices and tastes fresher overall. The staff is attentive and friendly, ensuring the buffet is well-stocked and providing good service.
However, some reviews mention issues such as a smell of dead mouse in one section and inconsistent food quality. While some diners enjoyed dishes like fried fish, Cajun salmon, lo mein, and crab rangoon, others found some food not as fresh or well-cooked, especially at the hibachi station. There were also comments about the restaurant being short-staffed at times, leading to slow service and unclean tables. Additionally, some found the tea lacking flavor and experienced rushing before finishing their meals, though they appreciated that the tea was removed from the bill.
Overall, Wengs of Pekin is praised for its good buffet variety, improved taste, and friendly staff, making it a decent choice for Chinese buffet lovers despite occasional inconsistencies.
