Peeked our heads in right as they opened at 1:00 p.m. We were passing through the area and grabbed lunch next door, but wanted to scope this distillery out for the future. Bob was super nice and gave us all the info, from live music to the different bottles they sell, etc. Wish we weren't driving so we could have had a couple cocktails, but we did grab a four pack of mini bottles to sample at home. We met Jeff Yosowitz at the Galena Whiskey Weekend and he introduced us to Star Union Spirits. We enjoyed talking to him and learned so much about a Star Union which is only an hour from our hometown. He also shared that he was going to be showcasing Star Union Spirits at a local HyVee the following week, so we decided to stop by there an learn even more about the distillery. Amazing little find! My husband and I love trying new beers and whiskey, this place did not disappoint. We tried a neat pour of the Navy Rum and American Whiskey first, then had old fashioneds of each, both were fantastic. You can tell a great deal of care goes into their craft cocktails from their housemade syrups and mixes to their nicely balanced spirits. The only thing I regret is not buying a bottle to bring home. Definitely will be coming back!
