Posted on Chicago Area microbreweries - Facebook page: Not quite Chicago area, but Princeton, Illinois . . . I was pleased to find Coal Creek Brewery had opened in the "2nd downtown" since I was last here. Located in a narrow, but long space - like a shotgun house - it was a nicely laid out place to have a beer. With 12 beers on tap, this small brewing operation had a varied selection of beers instead of 6 out of 12 being only IPAs! I tried the Kolsch and Milk stout...
Tasty beers. A great lager and a pilsner are great introductions for the American beer drinker. A few IPA's, a milk stout and a dunkel (my favorite) for the craft beer fan. Mixed drinks also. Great service, good atmosphere and stools with back support! We love this place!
