“Posted on Chicago Area microbreweries - Facebook page: Not quite Chicago area, but Princeton, Illinois . . . I was pleased to find Coal Creek Brewery had opened in the "2nd downtown" since I was last here. Located in a narrow, but long space - like a shotgun house - it was a nicely laid out place to have a beer. With 12 beers on tap, this small brewing operation had a varied selection of beers instead of 6 out of 12 being only IPAs! I tried the Kolsch and Milk stout because [instead of] . . . my usual preference of having a flight when checking out a new brewery . . . I spoke with the bartender/part owner and learned they learned their craft working in Florida before returning to her . . . husband's hometown. Coal Creek has only been open for two years now, but it is well worth a stop. Check it out.”

“What a hidden gem! Decided to try something different for date night and ended up at an out of the way bar with restaurant attached. Food was FANTASTIC and it was almost empty at 6pm on a Monday. Exceeded our expectations by miles. We will definitely return, many times!”

“Passing through Princeton on the way home to Naperville, we stopped at Monical's for pizza today. It was the first time we've been to this restaurant. I didn't realize it's a chain restaurant mainly in central Illinois. Walking into the restaurant there's an area where you order and pay for your food at a small counter. They give you a number and you go into the restaurant and choose your own seat. A staff member will bring you your order. My husband and I each ordered a small side salad, which was cold and fresh. It had cheddar cheese, tomatoes and carrots on top. My husband and I each ordered pizzas. He had a larger thin crust sausage pizza and I made my own small veggie pizza with spinach, mushrooms, and black olives. We ordered our pizzas to be cooked crispy. I like that they had a chart to show you the different levels of doneness on their crusts. The crust was cooked perfectly crispy when it was delivered to our table, just like in the photo. It was piping hot when it came to the table which I loved. I was so surprised how good this pizza was. I can honestly say this is the best thin crust pizza I've ever had. Tammy took care of us by bringing our food and drinks to our table and checking on us. She was very friendly and engaging. It was a pleasure to have her wait on us. I could tell she liked what she did and that she really cared that her customers had a good experience. She's a definite asset to this restaurant. I'd definitely go back if I was ever in the area again just to have this thin crust pizza. I recommend stopping at this restaurant and giving their pizza a try. You won't be sorry.”

“Pleasant, clean, quiet. You can order to-go, but they have tables where you can dine-in. You can order at the counter or use their tablet devices. Each meal comes with soup (egg drop, hot/sour or wonton), which they keep hot and ready; you serve yourself. I tried both hot and sou and wonton and they were great! Especially the hot and sour--they put lots of the goodies in (mushroom, pork, etc.), and I believe the wonton are homemade; the broth is lovely and tasty, as homemade is always superior.
My husband got the Mongolian Beef and I had the Singapore Mei Fun. His dish was really tasty and mine was good too, although I'll request more curry, more heat next time!

“Man look I’m sitting at the table in Ecstasy, I got the burrito margarita with some fajita peppers on the side and omg I’m full but it’s so good. I don’t remember my server name but he’s a good server. Nevermind his name is Hector, great guy and really checked in whenever he was free. Everything was fresh and I’m now sleepy. I’m definitely coming back here for real!!!!”

“I'm originally from Illinois but raised my children in Idaho. Now that they're grown, we've moved back to illinois. It's been nearly 30 years since I had Godfather's Pizza and told my daughter she had to try it. She is a pizza lover and now has a new favorite pizza joint.”

“Thanks to an amazing staff and management. You have renewed my faith in humanity. Less than a week ago we were passing through on our way home from Colorado to Indiana. I left my wallet with cash, air pods, and our vaccination cards and didn’t miss it until the next day when I was home. I called and was told they had it and the manager would mail it to me! The next day I received a text with the tracking information and today I received the wallet with everything including the money! They didn’t even take cash out for the cost of postage! I will be donating the cash to a local charity. I’ve always been a fan of Jimmy John’s but this brings it to a whole new level. I don’t think I’ll eat at another fast food restaurant if there is a Jimmy John’s nearby. Thanks to all the good people in this world!”
